Arren is one of the tallest men in the village, at 6'4, with broad shoulders and the muscles and tan skin earned through hard-work in the field. Despite his imposing physique, he has an open, friendly face, with an easy smile and bright blue eyes. His blonde hair is usually kept long and tied back in a topknot, and a blonde scruff seems ever present on his face. His right arm has the faded scars of bite marks and claw scratches, which he shows with pride. He wears the simple clothes of a farmer, yet usually goes bare chested when laboring or bringing goods into the village (to the enjoyment of some of the village's inhabitants). A pickaxe hangs from his hip, and he also owns a maul to bust stubborn rocks and tree trunks in the field.

Arren grew up in a large family on a farm outside the village, with four brothers and two sisters, overseen by his single, strong-willed mother. His mother had come to the village thirty years ago from somewhere far to the North with her no-good drunk husband, and brought with them strange, primitive practices from their homeland. Despite the somewhat strange rumors circulating through the village about the "tribe" that lives on the Rykhart farm, the children grew up normal enough, if a little more rough and tumble than most.
The Rhykharts are close knit. Two have left the village, one for adventure, the other as a soldier, but the others still work the farm. Arren watches out for his younger siblings, and makes sure they stay out of trouble.

Arren himself gained a small amount of fame in the village when he saved the girl from one of the most respected families from a wolf in the forest, wrestling the beast away and letting the girl run to safety. Now he wonders if there is glory to be found in slaying larger beasts...
