Malcolm Duroth is a tall, lean man. His family is known in Reedharbin. His father, Jonathan, is a fisherman for over forty years. His mother, Bethany, keeps a well tended garden and maintains their home. Her children Malcolm and Jackie were educated at home.

Malcolm works out of the Mayor's Office as the Customs Agent. He carries a rapier, unusual in this backwater town. Equally unusual is his leather armor, which has a few leather pieces that appears to be shaped and branded to resemble a leaf. Three such pieces are sewn on his shoulders and across his chest. Malcolm has always been marveled on the elven race. He tries to learn as much as possible whenever a newcomer shares that they have seen an elf. A small dog follows Malcolm around the town. It is a spotted white terrier that he calls, Baxter.
