Human Description of General Appearance:

Adriel looks as if she's in her early 20s.  She has the dark hair of her father before he greyed and the fair skin of her mother.  Her eyes, however are unique-- pale blue, almost grey- framed by thick black lashes.  She is average in height and build, 5'5, and can make herself almost look plain when she so desires- (except for the eyes)... She has little quirks that have become part of her lifestyle to make herself blend in rather than stand out.  Standing behind the crowd rather than in it, never quite sitting upright, hair in plain unimpressive styles from day to day, creating a general vagueness about herself.  On the other hand, if warranted she can carry herself with the grace and authority of a fine lady, and with minor effort could make herself look ravishing- though she avoids this.

Personality Details:

Personality:
If one were to listen to accounts Ms. Di'Angelo, the multi-millionare, is a recluse.  She is an austere woman with a fortune and high walls.  She is proper, drumming the beat of society in New York, London, Madrid, etc.  It is said her family is matriarchal, choosing to never marry.  The fortune is passed down through the oldest daughter and has since the sixteenth century flouting the conventions of society.  Those are the rumors.

And then there is the Adriel Di'Angelo who pulled into port.  The woman on the Yacht is vivacious, full of life, and with a devil may care attitude.  She is quick to laugh and quick to have fun.  It is said the woman on the Yacht is the old woman's granddaughter and heir- owning the old woman's name.

Adriel is a force.  She is passionate and is usually memorable despite her attempts to remain fairly neutral.  The memory is established by the whirlwind of being.  She is affable and good natured young woman who is quick to laugh with her companions.  She has a wry sense of humor and a passion for music and card playing.  She has a unique zest for life even in the most mundane situations- "Every day needs to be lived as a day where one realizes they are free."  She has a genuine desire to help people.  Even though she severs ties as easily as most people break spider webs, Adriel is fiercely loyal to those who gain her complete trust and will move mountains to help them in return.

Background/History:
Adriel's father was Orlando De'Vance, though he wasn't much of a father.  She was born in 1496 by modern reckoning or something near to that.  The family bible where her birth was recorded has not been found leaving the exact year somewhat in contention.  As the daughter of a minor Lord, Adriel was key to his advancement through her marriage to Dnias Kenelm a noble Lord Essex.  Adriel didn't know the details of the betrothal only that her father set it, and she was expected to show up on the wedding day.

Adriel was betrothed to be the third wife of Kenelm a 52-year-old widower.  His other two wives died under less than favorable circumstances- The first died in a house fire (she was locked in-unable to escape) and the second, married who married Kenelm shortly after the first one died, was strangled in the night.  It was blamed on an assassin, but there were no signs of any such invasion; however, there were rumors that she was having an affair with a servant- who disappeared the same evening.  During the "courtship,” Kenelm showed himself to be on the surface very gentile, but jealous and suspicious of what he considers his possessions to a violent degree.  While touring her new home, Adriel was approached by a servant who told her that Kenelm's wives were murdered by the Lord, and she should do everything in her power to avoid the marriage.

Adriel's mother, Linde De'Vance, had heard the rumors, but thought that the betrothal would be like the "others."  Orlando would find something better and move on as he had done ever since Adriel was five.  She taught Adriel to use charity work at the church as a buffer between her and Kenelm.  No such luck- the wedding day was announced.  Adriel came to her mother with the information about the murders.  Linde acted the part of a good wife and told her daughter that it was her duty to follow her father's wishes.  She warned Adriel not to go to Orlando- there were ways she could make the marriage work.

Adriel bucked up enough courage to approach her father with what she considered proof that Kenelm murdered his first two wives.  Her father refused to acknowledge the evidence.  That night Adriel made the decision to run away.  Locked in her room for being disobedient, Adriel tied sheets and climbed out from the balcony.  While Linde did not help in the escape, she did cover for her daughter (once she realized she was gone) long enough to allow Adriel to leave the city and disappear into the night.
After only a week on the run it became clear to the young woman that she was not going to outrun her Father's reach.  And that was when she went to the Fae.  No one tempted the Fae, but she had nothing to lose.  In the end she made a bargain- a wish that she didn't realize would be as lasting as it was when she wished to be free forever.  She was made free, but the forever part... she hadn't been expecting that.

What Adriel traded to the Fae is unknown, she has never spoken of it, but it is known that she had nothing when she left her childhood home.  Eventually her father died and Adriel returned to society well financed with an amazing amount of luck when it came to her business dealings.  She works in both the black market as well as more reputable channels.  Over the years she has amassed an amazing fortune.

Adriel has managed to convince historians that her life is a collection of matriarchs and daughters each taking turns with the fortune.  She has changed her appearance enough over the years that it would be hard to trace that every step in the timeline was actually her.
