Hessie's parents are quite strict about the movements of their eldest daughter, partly because she is the first to reach an age for marriage, mostly for fear her colour might attract men seeking a wild wanton woman from shores afar. As such, though she's naturally inclined to be an obedient daughter out of fondness Hessie will take any opportunity to slip off for harmless thrills like tree picnics, informal dancing or night swimming with the village girls if she can get away with it.

Though often shy and solemn in her ways, Hessie warms up among friends like a flower turning to the sun. She has no ambitions to move to a town, but would like to eventually dwell far enough away to make a decent trip when visiting.
