Widow Sexton is grieving at her own pace, though it rarely shows on the surface. Mostly she throws herself into work, tending to the village's poor and orphaned and trying to ease the burden on her son. She's a close friend of Goodie Westcott and refuses to have anything to do with whatever Mrs. Durbin stirs up against her - or anyone else for that matter.
