Martin Lovelace, aspiring to be the new local physician in town, seems rather well pleased by the notion of a quiet country life. He's polite, mild mannered, prone to light heartedness and a dry sense of humor, though when pressed has been known to show a bit more hardness in the eyes and steel in the spine than one might otherwise expect from a physician. He comes across as rather well-heeled, but has a scar on his throat that even a high collar can't completely hide, and scars on his palms as well.
