Robin has probably managed to pull furthest from his family's reputation, though the youngest sibling  falls between his sisters in temperament. Largely ignored by his real father, out of contact with his uncle and treated with heavy-handed scorn by his brother-in-law, Robin tries to present his very nearly thirteen-year-old self as an independent young man but has a tendency to bond hard and fast with any older man willing to give him time and attention.

Bart and John keep a weather eye out for recruiting sergeants at the inn in consequence. The death of the elder Sexton hit Robin hard, as it did many of the community, and the younger Sexton sometimes feels the pressure of his apprentice's need for an older brother on top of the rigours of teaching him the craft. Robin is bright and adept at learning, at least, and has even taken to reading just as bravely as someone who'd seen an alphabet before they were ten.

Though not entirely its intended use, opening the Bible at random to bless the carpenter's shop with a divinatory quote for the day is one of Robin's great joys in life.
