Bertram Cromwell

Bertram Cromwell
1883- 1943
1943-?2017?

When taking on a solid state, Bertram Cromwell appears as a sometimes stern-looking African-American man in his early 60s. Tall and dapper, Bertram has kept himself in fighting condition, battling the Dark Arts.

Having served for many years as a D.C. police officer prior to joining the African-American Army regiment known as the Buffalo Soldiers, Bertram Cromwell brought plenty of experience to the FBI.

As an agent, Cromwell was employed exclusively in an undercover capacity, working directly under the head of the General Intelligence Division (GID), future director J. Edgar Hoover. The GID had been created a few months before in response to recent terrorist bombings, and JonesÂ’ talents and experience fit well with the divisionÂ’s anti-terrorist mission. After serving that Department with distinction Cromwell managed to transfer into the Clandestine Affairs Unit, a little known branch of the FBI devoted to tracking and stopping Occult threats on American soil. Cromwell managed to work in that department, for the next 25 years, before finally meeting his end in a fight in San Fransisco's Historic Sentinel Building, with his Adversary, Nazi Warlock Walter Nauhaus.

However, that was not the end for Cromwell, as he soon found himself bound to the earth as a Specter as the result of Nauhaus's Necromantic Magicks. Offered a position running a 'Word Of Man' Branch Office with SPARCLE (Special Agent, Recon, Counter Intelligence, Logistics and Execution.), an elite organization made up of supernatural creatures from various Planes; working at the behest of the Powers That Be, and dedicated to safeguarding a stable, relatively Apocalypse-free reality. When not working a case, or trying to solve an Occult mystery, Bertram Cromwell can be found (or not, he goes invisible) where he's bound, haunting the Man's World SPARCLE Headquarters.
