DND 5e or TSL: Free Love in Theros

TLDR: This is a Mature game looking to combine high fantasy adventures in a Greek inspired setting with intimate character driven exploration of relationships and open love. We’ll start with two or three players using either D&D 5e or Thirsty Sword Lesbians (TSL) and a high post rate. The DM is new to running Play-By-Post and TSL, but has years of experience with both D&D 5e and Powered by the Apocalypse systems like TSL. Group applications will receive preference over individual applications.

Welcome to Free Love in Theros, a game intent on using the Wizards of the Coast setting of Theros in order to explore mythic adventures and deep character dramas. The setting is inspired by Greek mythology where the gods are deeply involved in the world of mortals and monsters, and the players are wound up tightly in a fate for great heroism and sometimes tragedy.

At present, the system we'll use is open to a decision by the players. As a DM, I am more familiar with D&D 5e, but understand that system can be cumbersome in text and is more inclined towards adjudicating combat than exploring characters and relationships. However, as it is easy to modify and onboard new players, we are leaving the option open. The alternative is to use the new system Thirsty Sword Lesbians (TSL), a Powered by the Apocalypse System that promotes LGBTQ+ adventures that oppose an outside oppressor while exploring internal character emotions and relationships. If the players are interested in exploring this system, a summation of the rules and the player's character booklet will be provided.

As a DM, you can expect me to generally follow these three tenets.

1. The DM must be a fan of the players. - The reason I play these games is to participate in the amazing stories that you as players wish to tell. If you want to do something amazing, even if and especially if it is different than what I'd expected, then I want that amazing thing to happen and will work to help make it so.

2. The Rule of Cool overrules Rules as Written. - Whatever system we use, the story and our enjoyment is more important than mastery over a system of rules. If we wanted to be so limited, we'd be playing a video game instead. If you want to do something that the rules do not account for, but it improves the story and all the player's enjoyment, then it will happen.

3. Real life comes first but I responsible to my storytelling partners. - It goes without saying that the real world is more important and I cannot say that it won't interfere to cause any of us to be unable to post for a while. However, I promise that if I have to vanish for a time, I will give you all notice of the upcoming down period and its expected length.

For the time being, we will only start with 2 or 3 players and the DM. This is in an effort to ensure that the pace of the game moves quickly and players will have an opportunity to create and explore rich interpersonal stories. As this is the goal, and pairs or groups of players that know each other prior to this game will receive preference for their requests to join, as they may lean on their familiarity to encourage cooperation and storytelling.
