Toramar Greymane

Toramar is just over four feet tall and, like all dwarves, stocky compared to a human. For a dwarf however, he is practically lithe. His red hair has streaks of grey in it, which speak to his heritage as a Greymane. Despite the grey, he is actually still a couple years shy of true adulthood and he is one of the youngest members of the expedition. He wears light armor for a dwarf and the massive crossbow on his back is his primary weapon. He also carries a shield and a sword that, by dwarven standards, might as well be a toothpick.

Toramar is accompanying the expedition as one of the experts on the deep passages. The dwarves have always served as the shield between the world above and the world below. Since the exile from Dammerhall, the number of dwarven rangers has dwindled considerably, but Toramar's family has kept to the old ways. Drika Greymane, Toramar's mother, is a well renowned ranger of the underdark and she volunteered him for the Stoneaxe expedition as a way to gain experience and, hopefully, to rekindle the dwarven ranger tradition. His grandfather, Bresik Greymane, is retired now, but is the subject of many tales of adventure and valor that are told around the fire to inspire young dwarves

For his part, Toramar aspires to live up to his family's legacy. In living memory, the deeds of his mother and grandfather have made 'Greymane' a household name among those who suffer predation from the deep places of the world. It is perhaps a mark of his inexperience, but Toramar is not yet the grim, stoic ranger that most people might expect. He still has a youthful energy and exuberance. Many a night he can be found drinking dwarven ale and singing drunkenly for all to hear. As the expedition prepares to head out, he keeps his concerns about the journey ahead well contained lest his nervousness infect others.
