Morginn Hollowforge

Long before Morginn's time, the Duergar were chained to a terrible fate; they dug too deep and were set upon by otherwordly aberrations that lurked in those forlorn depths.  Enslaved, tormented, twisted; they became pitiable creatures who were a shadow of their former nobility - cast aside not only by their own kin, but by Moradin himself when the Duergar finally managed to shake free from the tyranny of the Illithids and sought Moradin's mercy.  All Dwarves know of the outcasts of their blood; the shades that lurk in the Underdark, bitter and hateful in their wretchedness.

Not all Duergar were content to languish in exile though.  While the new clans of the Underdark fell into the same kind of pointless in-fighting common among the Drow Houses, Clan Hollowforge broke free and rose from the depths to forge their own path.  Morginn - the only daughter of the minor clan - in particular loathed what her kind had become and sought a return to her ancestral roots, to reclaim what had been stolen from her before she was even born.

Morginn herself is far from what one would consider a traditional sort of Dwarven woman though.  Though unafraid of labor, her differing lifestyle and upbringing leave her pillowy soft by Dwarven standards; a voluptuous figure that would be appealing to Humans, but lacking any of the true hardiness to catch a Dwar's eye.  Her dark skin and tattooed face alike mark her as an exile, both from the surface world and from her own fellow Duergar.  Magic is innate in the Duergar and she's no different; her body reflects its presence in her veins with a supernatural blaze just below the surface that glows from her eyes and hair, like hot embers beneath ash.  Morginn bears her strengths in her cunning and determination rather than by the power of her arm, but that doesn't stop her from swinging around a wicked, well-worn pick all the same.
