Were it not for the fact that most people know him by his home town, most people would not be aware that Thomas wasn't local to France. Partly, this is because he seems to have a knack of blending in, another scraggy, bearded man trudging along life's road, but also because it is rare for him to speak and reveal his Bristolean accent.

Taciturn, guarded and seemingly humourless, Thomas is slightly above average height, and has a build which suggests an existence exposed to the elements, such as a shepherd or a crofter. He dresses in worn, threadbare garments, and tends to carry around a large sack, seemingly full of tools or similar items. Beyond that, there is little to glean from the man or his intentions, and those who stare tend to be met by an equally unrelenting look from the Englishman's grey eyes.
