Halls of Stone
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

It is the end of the Third Age in Middle-Earth. Aragorn, son of Arathorn, is king of Gondor and Arnor. He has ruled well for two dozen years when an unexpected reminder of the horrors of the past rears its ugly head.

The Riders of Rohan have captured a man crossing the Riddermark in the company of orcs. Believing their captive to be a wizard, they have brought him to Aragorn in Minas Tirith to decide what to do with him. The wizard, to save his life, has offered up the knowledge of a missing ring of power, one of those given to the dwarf lords and thought consumed by dragons in the Second Age. No amount of torture has been enough to convince the orcs to tell where they were taking the man, but they were discovered within a league of Fangorn Forest, headed in its direction. As proof of his knowledge, the wizard has provided a name for the ring -- Tínya.

When Aragorn and his wife, Arwen, hear this name, they know with a sinking heart that the man does at least know his ring lore, and they are compelled to listen to his story. Based on what they hear, they decide to send an expedition in search of this lost ring. Small enough to escape notice, but strong in knowledge and power to stand against those foes that will also be seeking the ring, now that word of it has leaked out.

I am looking to put together this expedition leaving Minas Tirith in a few short days to travel to the far north, collecting artifacts along the way that may be of use to them at their final destination. No more than a dozen are called for (in reality we already have five Riders, so the roster is limited to six or seven player characters) These may be dwarves, elves, humans.

I will be using the Savage Worlds rules adapted for roleplaying in Middle Earth. I freely admit that I am not an expert in this rules set, but it seems very straightforward, and I hope to learn.

If you are interested in joining this quest, please provide some details about the character you would like to play. I do not want a full character sheet at this time, but I would like to know who the character is, why they would be at the court of King Aragorn, and why he would trust them. What race are they? What skills do they bring to the party? Etc.

I've run a number of games here and I will be taking my time with this one. I'm getting to learn the Savage World rules, for one thing, and I want to take the game seriously. Don't try to play Samwise, or Gimli, or Legolas. They are Heroes and while I will allow the characters to start at the Seasoned rank, I'm not looking for higher-level characters than that.

If you're interested, drop me a line in the RTJ and we'll go from there.
