Saven is an average-looking, dark haired man from Qizhong.  Almost everything about him is spectacularly average, except his mind.  Saven's intellect is remarkable, especially for one without much formal education.  While he did not enter the military, his research interests largely reflect military applications against the supernatural foes of the region.

Saven was raised by (and is outcast from) a ranking military family in Qizhong.  Instead of joining the military as he was "supposed" to, Saven apprenticed himself to a bookbinder and in recent years established a thriving book business and made himself into a self-taught scholar.
