Character History
Ann's mother family emigrated to US in 1916 after the Dublin rising, fleeing English prosecution. She never knew his father, being the daughter of a single young woman who never revealed anyone who he was.

She was always a rather shy girl (some would even say aloof), as she was not interested in on-line social activity nor videogames, keeping electronics to the bare minimum (she was not comfortable with them)

At 16 years old, a building in her neighborhood burnt, and she watched helpless how it collapsed with people inside, while admiring the firefighters job. She then found that her mother was among the victims and, hating how powerless she felt, she began studying first aid and emergency response.

She lived with his uncle since then, and wanted to become a nurse, but unable to afford the university, she became a paramedic first and worked as such to pay for it, not realizing how the hard work this involved was taxing her. Just after graduation, her teammate (the ambulance driver) died in her arms after being hit at a street gang firefight. This was the last straw, leaving her physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted, and in dire need of a sabbatical she could not afford.

Her supervisor realized it, and advised her to look for another, more quiet job. After trying in a hospital as nurse, she found it too boring and frustrating after her paramedic experience, and the supervisor used some contacts to find her a job as such in a more quiet rural environ, in a small city in Oregon named Bend.
