The war of the spark has ended, and the rebuilding has begun, the second living Guildpact, Niv-Mizzet is keeping order among the guilds, but the peace is fragile, and the tensions are slowly rising again among the guilds. The shadow wars have yet to break out again, but another sinister influence is rising, Nicol Bolas was slain but some of his followers remain, sowing chaos among the guilds, trying to turn them against one another. In response to this, Niv-Mizzet began work to create a team made of relatively disposable assets, one without a dominant affiliation to a guild, to help investigate and subdue the matter for good.
