A retired police detective, Martin has taken on a new career as a crime novelist, selling his stories to magazines under the pen name of “Mack Grey”. The manor holds unpleasant memories, having been the scene of a crime he attended as a rookie detective, one that was never solved--and which all the evidence said it was impossible.
