Heartwell by Night (V5)
The past decade in Heartwell have been a ballet of finesse and force, strength and diplomacy, survival, and superiority.The city has been neatly split and divided amongst two Kindred factions, the Camarilla, and the Anarch Movement. While the two factions themselves are always at odds with each other, they have reached a kind of stalemate within the confines of the city limits. Dangers and threats from all sides seem to solidify
the old adage, better the devil you know.
While there is no love lost between the elders of the Camarilla, and the upstart Anarch youth, they have come to retain a certain respect for the other when it comes to maintaining the masquerade and the defending their territory from threats. Of course, both sides would prefer to see their influence spread over the entirety of Heartwell, for the time being neither side is willing to start a war over it. They have plenty of problems as it is.
The Kindred of Heartwell have more threats than just the other faction to consider. No matter if you're Anarch, or Camarilla, the Second Inquisition is very real, and the agents who serve act as a constant threat. When the sun rises each day, and kindred are forced into their death sleep, more than a few of them are worried that this day, might be the day that they're found and destroyed.
And lastly, the newest problem facing the city. The Thin bloods. These kindred are the weakest of Caine's blood, farthest removed from the dark father, and though the thin blooded kindred are looked down upon, they are still kindred. Most elders believe that the time of the thin blood signals the coming of the end of the world, or Gehenna. The Day when the oldest surviving Vampires rise up out of there slumber to consume the world, and everything in it. This prophecy has lead most kindred to at least distrust the thin bloods as a whole, but the same could be said between any two Kindred. What each side intends to do about the 'thin blood' problem, is still anybody's guess. Though most believe whatever action they take does not bode well for the future of the thin bloods.
Perhaps the lasting 'peace' in Heartwell can be attributed to the two leaders of the opposing factions. Elizabeth Crowe. A Venture Kindred Prince and Terry Miller, a Brujah Baron. Rumors are abundant when it comes to these two Kindred. Some claim that they're lovers in secret. And that's why the peace has lasted. Others say that one or the other is the Sire, and that the Childe has been faking which clan they belong to. Anyone who can be heard tries their very best to spin the newest conspiracy theory.
