Acacia

Name: Acacia
Age: 45 (looks to be about 20)
Species: Artificial construct; plant-terraforming drone swarm
Occupation: Tourist
Sexuality: Homosexual
Other details: Friendly but can be shy at times. Likes nature, and seeing and experiencing new things. Often puts considerable weight on first impressions, and is easily put off by boorishness. Tends to naturally fill a caretaker role if one is needed. Sometimes grows flowers or other plant life on herself for aesthetic purposes. Mentally impervious to thought-reading or external manipulation due to her collectivized swarm intelligence.

Acacia, as she's nicknamed from an extended technical title, hails from a plane badly damaged by resource grabs and planetary-level strip-mining. The few remaining people living in it now manage their limited resources carefully, and place a high value on making their tools enduring and efficient, even when those "tools" are fully conscious AIs. Acacia is one member of a Standard Planetary Terraforming Autonomous Complement, made up of a handful of automated AIs with different specialties. Acacia's role is seeding, growing, and adapting plant life to help repair damaged worlds.

The members of an SPTAC are full citizens in their own right. Acacia herself was assembled and educated over the course of her first twenty years, then given five years personal time to explore her autonomy and decide on a personal identity. She then worked her first twenty-year shift before being given her first vacation, since workers on faraway worlds naturally have to live on site for long stretches at a time. She's decided to spend at least part of her vacation visiting the Dreamwhorl Archipelago, which her government made arrangements for on her behalf.

Acacia's natural form is a small cloud of insect-sized drones that can rapidly disassemble and reassemble natural materials, though she rarely assumes that form now that she's on vacation. She has one locked-in form for her collective, a mostly humanoid one with some canine features to it, especially in her furred ears and tail. Her studies of more developed ecosystems and fondness for animals led to this touch, though combined with her idealized human features she can give an (accurate) impression of seeming artificial and "off." Even in her humanoid form, she can grow and otherwise manipulate plant life to some degree, though she's only keeping it to small personal actions since she's only a guest at the Archipelago.
