The Hearthstone Tavern .it's on the border of ancestral Dwarven lands,and has a curious reputation.  While the drinks flow freely, the music is loud,and the patrons are happy, you'd never see z polite bunch.  Orders are given quietly and politely,and bar maids go from table to table untouched.  The reason is easy to see upon entering.  Most nights, the bar is run by a pretty, but clearly powerful, muscled young dwarf woman, whose eyes stare daggers through anyone stepping out of line.

The stout, athletic woman is none other than Therana Whitguard, supposedly a former adventurer who made her fortune far from home, and opened the tavern in retirement.  Whether all that is true she can certainly spin a tale, She talks freely of venturing out into the wide world, first drawn from home when her sister was kidnapped by Drow slavers and sold.  She tracked down the buyers, of course, and her vengeance was swift and terrible.  But after finding her sister safe, she realized she had a taste for the adventuring lifestyle.

Over time she made new friends, and formed a band of true heroes.  They battled dragons, giants, monster and demons, building their legend together. When they finally went their separate ways after one last climactic quest, Therana returned home to open her tavern.

There are rumors that Theranz is one of the Whitguards, the prime branch of the clan controlling most Dwarven holdings in the area.  But most questions and accusations are either laughed off or met with a steely glare and massive fist.
