Elsys Amastacia

Elsys Amastacia was born the bastard daughter of an elven diplomat who fostered her out to be raised by his brother and sister-in-law as he was too busy with matters of state to do so himself. Elsys was a social outcast among the elves, constantly alone and shunned by others nearer her age as a filthy half-breed and a stain upon the name Amastacia. Many cruelly commented that her father should never have acknowledged her and merely turned her out into the wilderness to fend for herself. Without friends and not knowing if her mother still lives, Elsys dedicated herself to the teachings of Labelas Enoreth. A quick learner by elven standards, Elsys had managed to manipulate the weave by the age of 24 and within another 3 years was deemed knowledgeable enough to leave the confines of the temple and take on her vision quest.

With little direction other than to go out into the world to find herself and her purpose, Elsys soon found herself in a city split into three parts by the fork of a river, joining an adventurer's guild there to delve into the secrets of the dungeons below and help the people of the city with their issues and maladies. During this time she worked with a number of would be heroes and faced a few difficult foes, including a young hydra which had broken through the collapsed walls of a dungeon into the city sewers following an earthquake.

After several years rising through the ranks of the adventurer's guild, Elsys came across another younger half-elf named Gwyndia who bore a striking resemblance to herself, though seemingly taking more after an elven parent than Elsys did. After spending some time adventuring together they determined that they must share a mother whom neither of them had known as Gwyndia had been raised in an orphanage from a very young age. The two remained together, retired from the adventuring guild, and ventured to the north to the city where Gwyndia had grown up in the hopes of learning more about their mother. The pair shared a home in the northern city for 4 years without learning any more about their mother beyond a vague physical description and the name Gabrielle.

At this time there was great upheaval in the north due to the presence of a red dragon called Diazoag the Powerful that had been displaced from it's lair beyond the northern mountain ranges by a much older and more cunning blue dragon named Giorunos. Diazoag terrorised the region, burning much of the countryside and destroying smaller towns without the defences needed to protect themselves from the creature who was both wroth from being driven from their home and covetous of the hoard of wealth it had once possessed.
Elsys and Gwyndia were among a group of forty three warriors, mages and holy people who set out to save the region from this menace, however only seven returned after a pyrrhic victory. Elsys had received terrible burns to the left side of her body where her armor had covered her flesh but Gwyndia had been slain outright, her body torn asunder and charred to a crisp. It took thirteen months for Elsys to recover from her wounds and be in a position to practice her magic once more.

Since then and whilst adventuring, the northern city had given her and her peers noble titles and key to the city in recognition for defeating the dragon Diazoag. She sends her monthly stipend to a local orphanage to send some of the orphans to a school for the arcane.
She aided in the reconstruction and running of a shrine to the Seldarine in one of the razed northern towns.
A number of noble suitors sought her hand in marriage but she turned every single one away.

Elsys is generous, seeks to preserve life, unravel mysteries and learn the arcane secrets of the universe.
She has abandonment issues, is self-conscious about her burn scars, is fearful of out of control fire and dragons, and has a martyrdom complex after the death of her half-sister.
Elsys's parentage remains a mystery, her mother could be anyone. The diplomat who acknowledged her as his bastard may not even be her real father but may have claimed her as the real father had had a problematic tryst that resulted in an inconvenient pregnancy.
