Urik Wren

DESCRIPTION:

With his Elven heritage apparent, Urik does nothing to hide it. He wears it like a badge of honor. His ears are a bit more pointy than normal for his kind and they are always noticeable peeking out of his coal black hair which hangs wild between his shoulder blades. Surprisingly his eyes may be more prominent than his ears, they are a dark gray, almost black. He moves like one with some athleticism of the Elves but he is obviously more muscled and carries himself like he's no stranger to trouble. His clothes are serviceable for an adventurer, tanned leathers, faded grays and shades of green help him blend in to most surroundings.
He wears a 3/4 length hooded duster and back pack that is well kept like all his gear including his arms. A dagger is tucked into each boot, another on his right hip and an axe on his left. A longbow and quiver of arrows are strapped to his pack, unstrung unless he's working. Over each shoulder you can see twin hilts of some  heavy bladed short swords. (Broken-Back Seax)

PERSONALITY:
Urik doesn't know a stranger. He's well mannered and polite enough to all he meets, usually with a grin. He likes a good joke, some razzing and funning around are always welcome. He can dish out as much as he can take.
He has few friends but once he calls you his friend then your the same as family. He enjoys a good tavern brawl, a cool ale or six and some soft company never hurt anyone. Hell if all three come to pass then that's better than bacon. He is the quintessential nice guy until it is time to not be nice, then anything goes.

Background:
Urik is the son of Alric, a human and Sala Wren of elven blood. The day he was born an eerie darkness was in the sky, not quite night but strange for the storm that was closing in. Sala held her new born close and they both crackled with light as the storm roared outside. She kissed his forehead and smiled, thunder roared and lightning filled the sky as Sala Wren faded from this world.
They say she had a heart of gold and the beauty to match. She was a Druid and a stout follower of the Green Faith and they say she passed her love of life and the sky to Urik. Sala was loved by all in their small village of Northseed.  Alric Wren was a man of the wild, tamed by the love of a woman. He held some renown in the northern lands and was the unofficial leader of the Clan. He loved Urik with everything he had and saw a lot of Sala in the lad. Alric spoke of Sala often to Urik so he could 'know' his mother. Alric also followed the Green Faith but he had drifted away after his wife passed.
In Northseed everyone had a job and they worked as a team, nobody did with out and everyone helped everyone and no one person was more important than the other. Not only did they work as merchants, craftsman, healers, farmers and whatever else it took to make a village, most of them had other skills that made Northseed special. They were 'do-gooder mercenaries' who would right the wrongs done to those less fortunate when they needed it. Pay was usually the spoils and favors that could be called upon later. Urik was being trained to be one of them and he enjoyed it.
When Urik was thirteen summers old, his father and a half dozen others of the Clan were on one such 'adventure' when they ran across a roaming band of undead lead by a hooded creature and were attacked. The fight was brutal and the Northseed fought the unknowns into retreat but only three of them Ogun-Jobi the Half-Orc archer, TakTak the Tengu swordsmen and Uriks Aunt Alana, a Druid like her sister, returned alive.
They were three of Alrics must loyal friends and for the next several years they took up raising Urik and continued his training. The hopes for him was high as he excelled in his teachings and in no time he was going on quests with them and proved himself as one of their best. He had become every bit his fathers son, full of the wild rage of youth that needs tamed. That's why it came as no surprise to all when one day he decided he needed to find his own way instead of taking Alrics place in the clan. "Till we meet again." Was all he said as he left Northseed in search of himself and possibly the hooded creature that had killed his father.
