Lev

General Details
Name: Lev Maslov
Age: 13
Gender: Male
Picture Reference: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/804982552657002516/946284487187259432/token_1.png

Physical Description: Lev is very much on the very-obvious side of being a mutant, having a humanoid frame, but with a face and head that harbors many bat-like features. The hair along their body is shorter and practically snow white, while the hair on their head is much more identical to human hair of a red coloration, and with loose bangs that sit above the shoulder. Their eyes sit somewhere between that of a bat and that of a human, with the coloration mainly being a dark brown. Physically speaking, they’re on the much scrawnier side, albeit this is mainly attributed to a lighter density of muscle and size of bones, rather than an unhealthy diet. Despite his bat-like traits, he does not seem to have any wings.

Hair color: Red
Fur Color: Snow White
Height: 4’11”
Weight: 79 lbs
Clothing preference: Track wear, or easy to move in clothing. Not fond of short sleeves.
Other: Almost always carrying a backpack with him, usually for notebooks, Cassetes, and a walkman to play said cassetes.
[Note about Wings: Lev was born with wings, but due to an accident earlier in childhood, their removal was required.]

Background and Traits
Background: Lev’s birth could be regarded as an odd form of irony, as his birth came to a set of parents who were a fair bit involved with the anti-mutant sentiment. Given his mutation being very much apparent from birth, the couple was put in a bit of a difficult bind in regards to their views. For much of Lev’s childhood, the notion of mutations came across more as a… unwanted disease. While not necessarily thrown to the wolves, Lev was kept at a bit of a distance in regards to family, with more of the focus being on his older brother, who seemed to have no mutations. It wasn’t until an accident that led to him staying with his grandmother, and his older brother taking care of his parents, that he was taught a different view on the subject of mutations.

Where his parents taught that mutations were a form of disease, and that great efforts should be taken to try and be the ‘normal’ sort, his grandmother was a bit of the opposite, having a mutation herself. While she was a bit more of the adventure sort, she did her best to find some time to teach her grandson the things she thought he’d be best off knowing, including some about music and song, something that was both her later life’s work, as well as what would help train and set the foundation for how Lev practiced using his mutation.

His life, both with his parents, and his grandmother, was typically on the move. His parents' jobs kept them on the go most of the time, while his grandmother was more of the traveling musician, only recently ‘settling’ in the area with a semi-permanent gig, and decent opportunities within ‘travel’ distance. While traveling with his parents, most of what he learned usually came from his older brother, who was five years his senior, and had no problems with lending his old books and homework out. While with his grandmother… what he’s learned has broadened significantly!

Personality: Lev has a fairly curious personality, with a small habit of eavesdropping where his mutation might assist. Lev typically welcomes the notion of socializing, but is hesitant to start the conversation himself. This changes significantly when he performs, taking on a stage name and persona that is far more on the outgoing side, usually with a mask and such so nobody judges the act off the ‘bat’ performing it. Given such, most things related to music, or just working of sound in general will quickly grab Lev’s attention, in or out of the stage persona.

When it comes down to situations where there is trouble, Lev might be the sort to get scared, but will put on a brave face to do something about it if nobody else will, a trait taught by his grandmother.

Powers:
01.) Sound: Lev’s mutation allows him to produce sound and vibrations at varying frequencies and decibels through vocal means, or, if the sound is coming from himself, he can locally impart similar vibrations by touch. This mutation has no effect on the sounds or vibrations that are not from his own body.

02.) Bat-Sense: Lev has many traits akin to that of a bat, and this includes the fine-tuned senses that many bats tend to have for echo-location, as well as their very sensitive hearing. In spite of common myth, his vision, especially in low-light, is actually quite impressive. His ability to see colors however is a little… dull.

Abilities
Singer: While not prone to sharing this outside his ‘stage persona’ nicknamed Song-Bat, his living around his grandmother combined with his unique talents with sound have led to a very high skill and talent for singing.

Crafty: Lev has a decent knowledge on how to make-do with on-hand materials to put simple things together, albeit this does not extend to mechanical or electronic devices. (ex. A make-do costume, make-do sling-shot, or smaller scale rube-goldberg contraptions.)

Sling-Shot Specialty: Starting out with a gift from his brother, Lev has been practicing with slingshots since he was very small, developing the skill of use to a notable level.

Other Stuff
Bug-Biter: Perhaps not -too- surprising, Lev has, and will catch and eat insects, very much taking after actual bats… usually not done in front of anyone outside friends that already know about the habit. (Note! (OOC jest) Does not apply to anyone with an insect-like mutation.)

Strength: Given a bat’s lighter frame and bones, Lev has the strength closer to a 10 or 11 year old, rather than the average 13 year old.
Intelligence: While Lev is no super-genius, he is quite intelligent, although most of his knowledge is across general categories, rather than anything specialized.
Endurance: Lev has the stamina of an energetic teenager who’s done a bit of traveling.
Agility: Lev has a high amount of natural agility, but outside of climbing and snatching insects, it’s not very well trained at this time. [Don’t ask him to walk a tightrope.]
Awareness: Mix a tendency of curiosity, eavesdropping, and the senses of a bat… and you have someone who has a very high awareness of their surroundings. In terms of social awareness… It can be a hit or miss sometimes.
Charisma: Lev typically keeps a more passive presence and while generally friendly, he doesn’t tend to try and take lead unless the situation -really- calls for it. Said passiveness does fall a bit to the side when singing or performing as ‘Song Bat’.
Willpower: Lev possesses a decent will to him, but there are some definite gaps in the armor where self-esteem factors in.
