Extremophila

DELTA GREEN
Born of the U.S. government’s 1928 raid on the degenerate coastal town of Innsmouth, Massachusetts, the covert agency known as Delta Green spent four decades opposing the forces of darkness with honor, but without glory. Stripped of sanction after a disastrous 1969 operation in Cambodia, Delta Green’s leaders made a secret pact: to continue their work without authority, without support, and without fear. Delta Green agents slip through the system, manipulating the federal bureaucracy while pushing the darkness back for another day—but often at a shattering personal cost.

In Delta Green: The Role-Playing Game, you are one of those agents. You’re the one they call when unnatural horrors seep into the world. You fight to keep cosmic evil from claiming human lives and sanity. You conspire to cover it all up so no one else must see what you’ve seen, or learn the terrible truths you’ve discovered.

EXTREMOPHILA
Extremophilia is a scenario for Delta Green: The Role-Playing Game. It is playable with Delta Green: Agent’s Handbook or the FREE quickstart rulebook, Delta Green: Need to Know.

March 1997
The Environmental Protection Agency and the Montana Department of Environmental Quality are working with the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a death outside Helena, Montana. The Deputy Fred Jacob died unexpectedly, in his home, from toxic shock from massive heavy-metal poisoning. The condition came on suddenly, apparently over the course of only a couple of days. The contamination was widespread. His digestive system showed high concentrations of heavy metals, but so did his circulatory system, brain, and organs, in levels that ought to take months to accumulate. There were no reports of an industrial accident that would explain that kind of poisoning.

The Characters of the Scenario are a specialist team from the FBI’s Critical Incident Response Group in Washington, D.C. They can be FBI agents or special-operations officer (professional well trained in self-defense). Any who don’t work for the FBI will be hired as consultants and will be given FBI credentials (but not powers of arrest; they’re consultants, not special agents). Officially, the Agents (they know each other and they already worked together) are there to look for evidence of criminal pollution. Unofficially, they will work as Delta Green agents. At the beginning, they only know about their official case. This is their first Delta Green mission. Their recruitment to the Delta Greem Program will occur during the plot. The Program suspects the issue could be something other than an environmental disaster. Something stranger and far more dangerous.
