As the problem with overcrowding and reoffending inmates rises the Federal government has decided on an experimental idea involving a former prison. Alcatraz has officially been closed to the public as the facility is not only undergoing a restoration but a renovation as well.This is due to the fact that the facility will not just be housing male inmates but females as well. In facilities across the U.S. there is a lottery underway that will lead to transfers as well as new offenders being marked. In a effort to control things no two members of the same gang will be allowed from the same facility.
In a way to encourage rehabilitation there are numberous opportunities underway. Though the CO's are also hoping to cash in as well. Hopefully it won't undermine the goals of what is intended.
