Blain Carter, is a tall, black man in his mid thirties. He is fit and well muscled, and generally dressed in business causal wear when out in the normal world. He keeps his head shaved completely bald and his face clean shaven.

  He can best be described as a disgruntled detective. Imbittered that the police do not truly serve where they patrol, Carter took up secret crusade to "do what he felt was right".

 Carter is a mutant. His powers actually triggered after he was shot and nearly killed in the line of duty. His recovery was rapid and he concealed from his bosses how complete it was. How, somehow someway the injury had left his body more perfect than it had been before.

   The most important person in Carters life is BJ (Blain junior), his seventeen year old son by his high school sweet-heart Amber Cross. Carter and Amber didn't make it as a couple but excelled as co-parents. The world is a hard place and no relationship is with out its problems, but theirs is generally speaking a stable home even if physically separate from one another.

   Nina Sung, is Carter's tough and clever detective partner. She completely and whole heartedly believes in the system they work for and the order it represents. She is a good person, she has just drank very deeply of the Kool-Aid.

  Mark (Carter doesn't know his last name). The bartender at a bar Carter religiously frequents every Tuesday and Thursday as he concludes his shift. Matt is always there when he goes, never talks it seems and listens calmly and patiently while still serving drinks with speed of the devil.
