How long has your character worked for OrionTech, Contracted with OrionTech, or What have you done to be contacted by OrionTech?  One could argue BJ has worked for OrionTech all her life.  Her father was a Salvage Op for the company the entire time she was growing up and she homeschooled from the hold of various research and salvage ships.  Her dad retired last year and she's taken over the operation.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:

Distinguishing Marks: BJ has a nautical tattoo that travels from her shoulder down to her wrist.  It is several twining navy references including an anchor, compass, and her father's dog tags from when he was in the navy.

Description of General Appearance:


BJ has light mocha skin and silken black hair.  Her dark eyes are piercing and she wears little to no makeup normally.  Due to her dark lashes she really doesn't need more than that.  Her muscles are well toned, not from the gym but from working the deck of a ship.  Her hands are calloused, her nails are short.  While she does take care to work personal hygiene- she is more rough and tumble than her younger sister who prefers to stay on land and work the books.

She tends to wear t-shirts, combat fatigue bottoms or a pair of comfortable jeans.  She wears heavy combat boots with steel toes, and more often than not- she wears her father's old navy cap.

BJ walks with an assertive gait.  She has an air and confidence that give the aura of knowledge and most times she lives up to it.

UNDER THE HOOD:

Personality:

BJ was the son her father never had.  Being the eldest, she was happy to fill in on the ship.  Her father was more than willing to have her travel, but made sure she was tutored by everyone that OrionTech hired.  For a grunt she's intelligent, though most of her knowledge is geared to getting a ship up and going or cutting it apart.  She  understands the sea- what is possible and what is not.

She is a true sailor and in that respect, she has a healthy regard for legends of the sea.  While she believes that pretty much anything can be salvaged- she does know that old ships are dangerous.  She treats them with the respect that they deserve.

BJ is a point A to point B kind of person.  She comes up with a plan and sticks to that plan unless something gets in the way.  Then, she reassesses and changes course with a  new plan.  This singular mindedness allows her to get things done twice as fast.

She is not particularly close with her younger sister- Brooklynn.  The younger of the Haynes girls is more about the land.  Much like when the land and see come in contact with one another things get rocky when BJ and Brooklyn are in the same room.

GETTING REAL:

Background/History:

Byron Haynes and his wife Marietta had to lovely girls.  While Marietta was alive, Byron worked a small time salvage company out of New Orleans.  When BJ was fifteen Marietta was killed in a hit and run.  Byron took a job with OrionTech that year in order to provide his girls with a future.  Brooklyn went to college.  BJ took over the business.

BJ was always closer to her father than her sister.  Brooklyn was Marietta's girl and BJ was Byron's.  That split became more distinct after the accident.  BJ seemed to take care of herself.  She became one of the hands on deck- whether asked or not.  She challenged the crew to teach her the various skills.  Eventually Byron relented and hired her.

When she turned 19 she began leading boarding missions for her father.  At 25 she began planning them and organizing the crew.  Last year Byron retired and moved in with Brooklyn and her husband.  BJ has taken over the salvage contract with OrionTech.  She enjoys the company, but likes the missions more.

BJ believes in ghosts that haunt the oceans.  She is careful about those omens that can bring the mission bad luck.
