Rhaga the Wolfhound

Rhaga, like all of her kind, is a massive mountain of muscle and thick bone. Perhaps more so than normal in her case, because of the life of hard labor that she has had to endure. Her green flesh is somewhat dark for an Orc, as she has spent many years on the open road under the harsh rays of the sun. Because of the rough conditions she has found himself in when hunting, Beryl has wisely chosen to braid and tie her hair shorter than others of her kind. Instead of a long unkempt mane, she looks like she could actually be in polite society and not bee seen as windblown. Her intense amber eyes stare out at the world over a mouth that seems to be almost constantly smiling or sneering. Despite the savagery of her appearance, he has the air of a kind soul about her. A friendly looking Orc might seem like a contradiction in terms, but there it is.

She is not a woman of wealth. Simple tunics and trousers are all that she owns. A few weapons and some well-worn boots, and one will have discovered all her possessions in the world. And sometimes, not even that. Such are her exertions, that she sometimes just decides to go without an over-shirt, just to save on laundry. She is going to be soiled and sweaty in a few hours work anyway, so what is the point?

Rhaga the Wolfhound owes her unusual life entirely to her mother. She was a fearsome Orc who came down from the Sunrise Mountains just north of Almorel. She was already very pregnant with Rhaga when she entered the colorful city, and never revealed who Beryl's father was. Even when she pressed her for his name during many an intense argument.

Wanting her child to have more opportunities than the brutal life of a simple tribal raider, Rhaga's mother worked nightly as a bouncer and leg-breaker for a shady businessman who ran a money-lending business in order to provide for them.

As a young lass, Rhaga pulled in a little extra coin by working as a dockhand for the ships that worked the Lake of Mists. Many hours of hard manual labor turned her into a muscular young woman, even for an Orc. When she reached adulthood at age twelve, she was already one of the strongest dock-hands working. It was about this time that her mother fell ill. Some form of consumption it seemed. Desperate for the expensive medicine that would save her life, and having little in the way of time to work for it, and not foolish enough to take out a loan, Rhaga had few options. However, a chance glance at a wanted poster put the idea of bounty hunting in her head. A legal profession that had high payouts that didn't need to be shared with a crew or a boss. Seeing as she had friends and contacts everywhere in Almorel, she was sure she could find bounties quickly. However, the slum doesn't take kindly to law in their territories. Fearing reprisals against herself and her mother, Rhaga took to hiding her features while on the job. It was like she was born to hunt dangerous criminals. It came so naturally to her, as if all the past hardship and bloodily learned lessons learned on the street were training her for this life. After her first few bounties, she was christened with the name Wolfhound, by others in the business. Both for her tenacious savagery, and her proclivity for protecting innocents.

For four long years, she scoured every filthy den for the worst Almorel had to offer. But despite the coin she earned, and the fame her hooded persona garnered, her mother eventually lost the battle to her disease and passed peacefully in her sleep, in a small home that her daughter had purchased for her. That was the worst day of her life, and it took her some time to recover. Now with no fear for her safety, Rhaga began operating openly under her real name. Still, the Wolfhound moniker stuck, almost like a surname.

With no ties to the city anymore, Rhaga has quite Almorel and gone searching for some more permanent direction in her life. In the meantime, she still makes a living as a bounty hunter and more generally a mercenary. It is only by wandering chance that Rhaga has come to Melvaunt. However, with the rumors of Orc war parties about the City of Swords, she sees an opportunity to make coin. Either she will be uniquely places in order to make peace with them, or she will simply collect the bounty on their heads.

Either way works for her.
