In the fall of 1979, the CEO of Hughes Global decided to break the law by testing out a controversial and experimental biological fuel source in a rocket dubbed Solar XP1 in an attempt to target a comet that was to crash into the sun. The initial launch was a success but as the rocket reached our upper atmosphere it exploded. The experimental fuel mixed with the molecules of the atmosphere at the same time a solar flare was reaching earth.At the time, no one thought anything of it. Barton Hughes was arrested, and his empire was sold off after he was removed as CEO by his board. The news of his arrest and the rocket quickly faded by other stories and soon forgotten.
Jump to the year 2020. According to wikipedia - 2020 was heavily defined by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to global social and economic disruption, mass cancellations and postponements of events, worldwide lockdowns and the largest economic recession since the Great Depression in the 1930s.-
Today... Inflation, on-going impact of Covid-19, January 6th investigations, and the war in Ukraine. Much to add to the year of science.
Now, add superhumans to that list.
The first was in January. A black teen coming home from a friends notices a house on fire. He runs in to save the family inside. His clothes were completely burnt off but not a scratch on him. Since then more have been popping up all around the globe.
It wasn't until June that they made a connection with the Solar XP1 rocket and those born around that time. That information leaked to the press and they started dubbing these super powered beings Solar Babies.
The governments around the world are still trying to figure out the lagalities of these superhumans.
