Simon Nowak

The Basics

Name:
Simon Nowak

Gender: Male

Age: Appears 20-21 mentally he’s 43

Race: Cambion (half demon, half human)

The Physical

Physical Description: He’s on the smaller side weighing a whopping 130 lbs and coming in at just barely 5’6” which makes him not very intimidating looking. Although he looks young, his green eyes tell a different story over how much he’s seen in his life.

Alternate Form: Simon can shift into a beast that would mostly likely be defined as a large panther should someone catch a glimpse of it. His skin is covered in fur lined scales that look soft to the touch and they can be, as long as they aren’t raised as the edges are akin to the edge of a blade. The scales shift as he breathes and moves, almost rippling. His body is solid muscle, paws equipped with razor sharp claws but his teeth are really what one would want to be concerned with.

Talents & Weaknesses

Skills: Contrary to his size, he can be quite lethal … if the price is right, or if he just gets pissed enough … or bored. He excels at crossword puzzles if that counts for anything.

Powers: Enhanced sense, speed, duralibility, endurance and healing like most supernatural beings. Shape shifting (see alternate form). Telepathy, but only when in his animal form though he’s not particularly chatty.  Slow aging, though he wouldn’t consider that a power, it’s more a frustration.

Vulnerabilities: Blessed areas like churches are off limits or at least not worth what it took to try and enter one. Weapons used for the sole purpose of inflicting pain or death on demons slow his ability to heal and do more damage. In the same sense, any wards used against demons can be used on him although they aren’t as potent due to his human side watering things down.

Under The Hood

Personality: People commonly mumble under their breaths about him being an asshole, an old lady once called him a lippy shit. Personally, he views it as being honest and that was apparently something people couldn’t take. Due to his youthful looks, he’s viewed as an old soul and is often heard grumbling to himself like a weathered old man might.

He seems unnaturally chipper at times but when pressed is deadly serious. His moods can be erratic fluctuating from cheerful and amused to aggravated and sarcastic in seconds. He has little patience for stupid people … no patience, he has none. When he wants to be he can be charming but it’s rare that he wastes the energy, only when he needs something from another.

Simon isn’t one to display much emotion unless it’s due to anger or boredom. Positive emotions are something he struggles with, there had been one time in his life he’d thought he’d felt love but with how it ended … he deemed it all a weakness. If there was one word to describe how he felt about most things, it would be ‘indifferent’.

Backstory: He started out his life declared a still born. Had it not been for his mother insisting that he was alive, his story might have turned out a bit differently. He had a heart and it beat, it just took a bit to detect with how faint it was. His mother, Helen, had been nineteen when he was born and alone in the world. Once he grew old enough to understand she had explained to him that she didn’t know who his father was, that it had been a result of a drunken night. And so he’d grown up a bastard by definition.

It wasn’t until he reached the age of seven that hints of who his father might have been, started to show. Up until then, he had worn a thin silver rope bracelet but after getting in a fight with a bully on the playground it broke off. Later he’d learn it had been spelled by a witch to keep his demon side dormant.

He ended up tearing the bully to shreds and within an hour his mother had packed him up and they left Poland. Simon spent most of the rest of his childhood in hiding, his mother did her best to try and teach him how to use his new found abilities. She still denied him the knowledge of who his father was, but she admitted to Simon that he had been a demon.

As a teen, he started to integrate into society since he wasn’t going to live as a hermit his entire life. He ended up falling into the ‘wrong crowd’ and embraced his other side for nefarious reasons. There wasn’t much that Simon wouldn’t do for money (get your mind out of the gutter) and that included taking another’s life.

After he passed the age of eighteen he started to notice that he wasn’t aging as he should. It took a decade plus to progress physically to what would have been seen as an extra year. He kept to himself and stayed under the radar up until the world went to shit which put the spotlight on the supernatural.

Against his gut feeling, he ended up joining with a group of supernaturals that had taken refuge in an abandoned warehouse. Not all of them needed to hide due to being able to blend in with the rest of humanity, like Simon but he decided to see what it was like having others around. That proved to be a mistake when one of their own sold them out by providing their location to a group of hunters.

Simon was captured and tortured with some of the others from the warehouse, the others were lucky enough to have been killed on site. He managed to escape after a couple weeks bringing along two others, who he parted ways with once they had gotten a safe distance away. Now he’s back on his own trying to rebuild somewhat of a life.
