The Ancient North
This game is set in the Ancient North of Westeros. It is after the reign of the Night King (About 6000 years ago). It is occurring during The Andal invasion of the southron kingdoms. All the southron kingdoms have not been conquered yet, with occurs around 2000 years ago. So, characters will not be knights (an Andal custom) unless they are an Andal Knight who abandoned his Andal heritage. Most characters will be from the North or 1st men refugees from the south fleeing the Andal onslaught.Of course, House Stark, The Kings of Winter, is the strongest House having previously conquered and forced to bend a knee: House Flints, Slates, Umbers, Lockes, Glovers, Fishers, and Ryders, as well as the myriad of minor Houses. The Kings of Winter defeated and extinguished The Warg King by slaying all the males but took his daughters as a prize of war. The Kings of Winter drove The Blackwoods, an ancient house descended of the First Men, from the Wolfswood into the Riverlands. The Kings of Winter also vanquished the Greenwoods, Towers, Ambers, and Frosts. Typically, the fate of these defeated enemies was slaying the males and claiming their women as prizes or brides.
The Major Powers of this time frame that are struggling against each other for dominance are The Kings of Winter (House Stark), The Barrow Kings (House Dustin)- a dynasty of kings from the barrowlands in what is now the north. The Barrow kings claimed to have been monarchs over all First Men and actually called themselves Kings of the First Men. Then there was also The Marsh Kings- the rulers of the crannogmen in the Neck thousands of years before the War of Conquest. And finally, there was the powerful rival to the the Kings of Winter, The Red Kings- House Bolton when they reigned as kings in the east of what is now the North.
