As the son of two adventuring dwarves who had very modest success in their time, Aradock was raised with the idea of leaving the settlement and "seeing the world" for a while.  It went without saying by his parents that, after a short while, Aradock would return like a proper dwarf, like they did, and take up proper dwarf activities at home.  Only, the "world" was a lot more interesting than Aradock thought it would be.  He's finding it's fascinating to find out what's on the other side of that hill or down that hole, just because it's there and he's never seen it.  He still tends towards a bit of caution in all dealings, as anyone raised on stories of adventures gone wrong might, but that's just made him all the more interested in finding out carefully what's on the other side of that hill.
