Leon Renard

Despite where he ended up in life, Leon Renard was born into every possible privilege known in Selincourt. The eldest son of Viscount Bastien Renard, Leon had the blood of one of the oldest and most noble families in all of Selincourt. Had he wished it, Leon could have pursued any course that he wanted. He could have joined his father at court, and learned the ways of royal bureaucracy. He could have joined the clergy, and risen high into the upper echelons of the Temple of the Divine Mandate. Or he could have followed the path of coin, and expanded his family's holdings in Abouline or the foreign baronies. Or he could have done nothing at all, and lived fat and happy in endless hedonism as only a spoiled noble can. But Leon chose to serve the people instead.

Long had the young lad grown up hearing tales of his great grandfather, who had been a knight of legend. For as long as he could remember, he had been lulled into sleep with visions of old Almaricus's deeds, and dreamed of the glories that he would have some day. Despite resistance from his father, Leon eventually got his mother, Sabina, to convince his father to let him pursue his young dream. Bastien had wanted to groom his son for his personal machinations, but saw the benefit of having another member of the family winning honor and prestige for them after so many years. So at the age of seven, Leon began to study under every horse-master and fighting instructor that good coin could buy. But once he reached twenty-one winters, he reached the age of manhood, and was no longer permitted to study.

As is the custom in Selincourt, Leon must now undertake an Errantry Tour. Where he must travel the lands, righting wrongs, saving the innocent, and generally improving the lives of all he meets through his martial strength and honorable deeds, until his name is well-known on every tongue in Selincourt. Only then will he be allowed to return to the lands of his birth.
