Alonso was born to a large, happy peasant family. He was raised on farm duty, and his whole life was more or less determined at birth - marry a nice girl from a nearby family, settle down in a house near where he grew up, raise a family, and work the land.
As he grew towards adulthood, he knew he wanted something different. He started getting into trouble, brawls, and other rough problems.

Many peasants go through a phase like this as they approach adulthood, but for Alonso he found that he not only had a taste for it, he had a talent as well. He started to offer his services as a local bodyguard to travellers who had a few coins, and saved up enough for his first sword.

With a blade in hand, he found he had an instinct and a finesse that would have gone to waste using a sickle to harvest the wheat. He determined to use his talents to strike out and find his fortune through adventure,
