Borderlands

I'm looking to run a Bronze Age campaign set in the Hyperborean Age of Conan with a lot of flavor and settings from RuneQuest and The Black Company. I'll be using D&D 3.5 rules. It's a low magic world with only human characters (as per the Conan setting). Initial classes will be limited to Barbarian, Cleric, Fighter, Monk, Ranger & Rogue. At level 3 and above, the characters may begin to learn spells and actually multiclass in a spellcasting class -- if they have discovered a way to learn about magic. (It exists, but is rare in this world.)

Clerics get their magic from prayer and the gods they believe in, learning new spells at sympathetic temples as they advance in levels. They are the only character class allowed that can cast spells at Level 1 -- which is where all the characters will begin.

To set the background very briefly, the PC's will all be enlisted as low level grunts in the  army of the Empire of Aquilonia that has just invaded the Kingdom of Turan. Their cohort has been sent north along the western shores of the Sea of Vilayet to help hold Sun City and exert control over the hill people up river from there -- this is where we bring in the RuneQuest stuff from the classic Borderlands campaign.

As indicated, all player characters will be human (no dwarves, elves, halflings, orcs, etc. -- though that does not mean you will not encounter them as threats!) Very low magic. Clerics only can cast spells at first and second levels (and then you have to have established a means by which your character can have learned the magic if you want to learn any.)

If you're interested, drop me a line and tell me who you would like to play. All characters start at level 1. No evil alignments. Core rulebooks only.
