Welcome to the Shadelands, a place far to the north where the veil between worlds is the thinnest. The nature of the place brings many magical practitioners to study or take advantage of these connections, but none more so than warlocks, who can feel the presence of their respective patrons much, much more closely.As such, the Shadelands as a whole and the city of Yon'Cath in particular, may very well be the one place in all the realms where warlocks feel at home. King Dorian himself is a powerful warlock as are his personal guards, and he is a figure surrounded by rumors told from afar. No one quite knows if he's mad or sane, or if he's trying to hold things together or working with dark powers in some bid for conquest or destruction. In any case, the kingdoms closest to the Shadelands always have at least one eye turned north for signs of any trouble on their borders.
The most troubling rumors are that, whatever the intent may be, things are becoming more unstable of late. Hints of strife between the factions that rule and protect the city. Perhaps soon lines will be drawn and sides chosen. If so, the only certain outcome will be bloodshed and death, though no one can guess yet as to whose deaths they will be.
