Frack

https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/97884850

Frack is a goblin, standing little more than 3 feet tall and 50 pounds soaking wet. He lives at the bottom of the volcano in the squalor known as The Slopes. As a youngster, he made his way through life on a day to day basis, collecting garbage for copper and filching what food he could to hold off starvation. His life took a turn on a rainy day when he slipped into a river attempting to pull out a shiny object that he thought might be a piece of silver. To his dismay, Frack plunged into a fast flowing river and, not knowing how to swim, panicked as he banged against rocks in what he figured would be his fatal end.

To Frack's good fortune, however, members of The Shield of Crimson Dale, a local group of paladins who fought alongside the automatons against Sakatoa, were there to witness Frack's predicament. One of them was a gray-bearded veteran named Rom Redshield. Redshield reached into the river and pulled Frack out by the legs. Frack was thrilled, not just to be alive, but to have been saved by someone as noble as Rom. He swore his debt to the paladin, insisting that he be allowed to repay the debt. Rom insisted this wasn't necessary, stating that Tyr taught him to stand up for the helpless and innocent. This just strengthened Frack's resolve to repay the Shield Member. At that moment, he took a knee and swore to join Rom in his quest to bring justice to Crimson Dale. Protest as he might, Rom was helpless against Frack's persistence. Over the coming months, the goblin followed Rom everywhere, learning the ways of the paladins as he went.

Rom did his best to put up with Frack, even teaching him a few tricks along the way. Much to the paladin's surprise, he grew fond of the goblin and a friendship blossomed. But age was catching up with the noble Shield, and in a year's time, he waited on death's door. Frack was devastated to lose his mentor, but before he died, Rom granted Frack with his helmet. It didn't fit, but the goblin had been so enamored with it that Rom knew it was the perfect gift.

In an effort to honor the man who saved his life, Frack dedicated himself to Tyr. To the goblin's surprise, he was able to gain some of the same divine powers that Rom had been granted by the God of Justice. To this day, Frack devotes himself to Tyr, and even though the Shield of Crimson Dale doesn't recognize him as one of their own, he has been blessed with many of the same divine favors.
