H.P. Lovecraft:
I have seen the dark universe yawning
Where the black planets roll without aim,
Where they roll in their horror unheeded,
Without knowledge, or lustre, or name.
Darkwood Asylum, 1892
Am I insane? The legal definition of insanity is:-
quote:
Mental illness of such a severe nature that a person cannot distinguish fantasy from reality, cannot conduct her/his affairs due to psychosis, or is subject to uncontrollable impulsive behavior.
So perhaps I am insane. But what is fantasy and what is reality? I thought I once knew. Until I saw what lurks within the shadows beyond conscious thought. Psychosis? Yes perhaps I do exhibit some Psychotic behaviour. I cannot walk on a clear night where the stars are visible. Lakes and trees scare me. The moon to me is an evil, mocking face.
Impulsive? No. I'm not impulsive. Not any more. Inaction is the best form of survival. Curiosity did not just kill the cat. It tore out its eyes, ripped out its heart and sent its mind screaming into a tortured abyss in which it drowned in its own horror.
My 'gift' brought me to this room. This metal cage and iron manacles. But it's ok. Locked in this room I am as safe as I ever will be from the horrors of the dark universe out there. Am I insane? No. I'm probably the sanest person on Earth.
Each have been touched by the beyond. Some were born with it. Some just developed it one day. Each harnessed it in a different way. Perhaps they saw the future in dreams. Perhaps they could move objects with their minds. Perhaps they saw the spirits of the dead. Some would say they are gifted. But they may argue that they are cursed. Their talents will bring them together, send them to dark places where people should never have to tread. There they will find and face horrors that no one should have to face. Will they stand against the horrors that lurk beyond life's edge? Or will the horrors consume them and rain triumphant madness upon the world?
This game is set in Victorian England and follows a group of 'gifted' individuals recruited into a clandestine organisation known as the Shadow Walkers. Players will begin the game having no knowledge of this organisation. They will be struggling with their 'gifts', trying to survive. Circumstances will lead them to the Cornish town of Darkwood and their recruitment into the Shadow Walkers.
I am looking for 3-5 Players and I will be keeping it small. Players will NOT be accepted on a first come, first served basis. It may take some time for your RTJ to be accepted / rejected.
This game is still in the design phase. More will be added to the wiki as time goes on.

The Doctor. The Lonely god. Dr. Who? This name once rang throughout the universe. He was a Galifreyan, the greatest Timelord that ever lived. Many loved him, Many more feared him.
But his name has now been erased from the universe by his own hands. The name the Doctor no longer exists to the majority of people out there.
And the rest of Gallifrey? Timelocked during the end of the Timelord / Dalek war by the Doctor himself. Their leaders, including Rassilon, further imprisoned in a time bubble of their own creation along with The Master who, despite his madness, sacrificed himself in the end to prevent hell from being visited on the universe.
So like the Doctor the word Timelord has also been lost to myth and ledgend.
Still, somewhere in time and space a human being with a false memory and false life goes about their business unaware of who and what they really are. Nearby an antique pocket watch waits to be opened...
Episode 1 - The Timelord, The Witch and The Wardrobe
Arkham, M.A., 2012:
Kimberley Pemberton, Psychic Investigator, had been investigating strange noises and movement in Locton House, an old seventeenth centuary building. When she got there she found a strange man called Chaeson Meyers who emerged from a wardrobe. Chaeson had the odd quirk of finding and walking through 'doors' in space-time. Believing him to be a burglar she threatens to call the police when suddenly a sound like breathing or onrushing air can be heard along with cursing and a man's voice saying
"...f&^%$£*g disobediant hunk of junk. Materialise for f&^$s sake..."
Just as they were reeling from that incident Cheason sensed something bad coming. As they quickly leave something materialised out of the corner of the room. vaguely resembling a cross between a bat and a mosquitto, it's alien snout extended into a large appendage that was half tongue and half proboscis. This was followed by an elongated and muscular body, wolf-like in its bulk and shape. The whole creature dripped a sickly blue puss that hissed and corroded everything it dripped onto. It lept out of the window at them but Chaeason suddenly saw a space-time door and pulled Kimberly through it.
Arkham, M.A., 1692:
Sarah Locton is at home with her mother, Elizabeth when a strange man introducing himself as Hayden Wolfe arrives and says he is staying for a few days. Elizabeth sends Sarah to get some bread and when she returns she hears a whoosing sound in the bedroom and hayden's voice saying
"...f&^%$£*g disobediant hunk of junk. Materialise for f&^$s sake..." When she confronts them they are in the bedroom and Hayden is pointing an odd silver wand at her wardrobe. They ook worried and usher Sarah out of the house. As they do so a hideous, alien monstrousity with a large panther like body and a head that was part bat-like and part insect-like bursts out of the window.
Some of the townsfolk were outside, going about their daily business. Upon seeing the creature people started screaming. A courier had arrived, carrying a small package under his arm. He had been about to knock the door when the monstrosity appeared. He dropped the package and turned to run but the creature impaled him with its needle like proboscis. The townsfolk watched in horror as the man deflated like a balloon as all his vital juices were sucked up like juice through a straw.
"The watch! Get the watch", Hayden shouted and ran for the package. The creature reared ready to strike but Liz intercepted it. As it struck her she held out her arms and began to glow with a strange golden light.
"No! What are you doing?", Hayden cried but the woman was changing inside the light. Taking on different faces, different forms. She turned back and smiled sadly at Sara and Hayden.
"It's the only way to stop this thing, Dabbler, and you know that. Take good care of each other"
Liz's final form was that of a beautiful young woman with midnight black hair and eyes like sapphires. They she exploded in a burst of golden light which not only consumed her but consumed the alien monstrosity as well.
Hayden finally retrieves the watch and gave it to Sarah who opened it. It was revealed that the pocket watch was part of a chameleon arc. Sarah was a timelady known as The Teller and Hayden was really a time lord from another universe known as The Dabbler. They had been running from the alien creatures ever since Sarah had rescued Hayden and Liz (now identified as The Dabbler and another Timelady whos name wasnt mentioned) from the other Universe.
Meanwhile Chaeson and Kimberly emerge from the space-time door into the nearby church during a sunday service. The four are all captured and imprisoned, facing trail for witchcraft. They manage to escape by a mixture of Kimberly's lockpicking skills, Teller's mind control ability and Dabbler's speed and combat skills. They get back to Sarah's house where she calls her TARDIS back and the four escape in it.
Episode 2 - Mr. Celluloid
With the start of Episode 2 I am looking for a few players to play a team of psychic investigators sent to investigate the weird goings on in an old movie theatre. One or two of these PC's may become assistants and travel with the Timelord and Timelady in the future but for now I just need Players for this one episode.
