I read back through the previous gameplay. It took HOURS. This game has produced enough writing to be equivalent to a decent length novel. And it was really good quality writing, too!

I have rustled up a really different scenario for the first episode of the adventure. It will be quite interesting to see how you handle it, when you have the laws of time put up against a moral quandry. There may well be adventure and daring do, but also... the need to solve a situation where either possible answer is going to cause some trauma for SOMEONE!

I am writing plot. I am also aware that some people have triggers, myself included, and that consent is important. So, without risking TOO many spoilers, I want to check with people... would you be OK playing in a scenario involving World War I? There will be no adult stuff, no graphic violence (unless you do some!) and torture or suffering. We all know how horrendous that era was, but I try to keep my level of peril and gore and horror equivalent to that used in the show.

I should also note, that the plot may involve a certain Adolf Hitler, before he went into politics and became the monster he was twenty years later. He won't actually be on screen much, but I know for some, and with very valid reasons, this is a sensitive subject. Is everybody going to be OK with this scenario? If not, I can work something else out, but I think you will find the plot I have come up with quite interesting. And for some of your characters, extremely alarming, as it will dig up some old memories (and enemies) they might wish never to have heard from again...

Oh, Susan! I cannot locate a Carole Ann Ford thumbnail, but the 20th Century category does have a couple of very good Audrey Hepburn thumbnails that would do nicely. I know you are playing her a couple of decades or more older, but Time Lord age slowly, so I am thinking she will probably look in her late 20s at this point.

Over the past twelve years or so I have sent many thumbnails to RPoL... they have ignored them all. :P

I am thinking, when I did it, it was about 10 years ago.  I might have gotten lucky.

Just as a clarification! Everybody here has come from another game where our GM has apparently vanished. Except for Victoria, who has played in other things I have done, and is always welcome in any game of mine. I am sure you will get along well, as you are all excellent writers!

I don't think I've every submitted a thumbnail, but once a picture I had been using in my character description showed up in a thumbnail, and kept thinking "did I submit that and somehow forget about it?" Odd that someone would find exactly the same picture as me.

The thumbnail I submitted for Franz was uploaded after that game died, I think.

I'm so sorry for being quiet lately, life is really taking out of me this week.

I feel that, friend. It's been busy on my end, too.

I really did have to angish over Amy, Donna, Rory, or Raine. I think I went for the best option. Not sure that Leela would tolerate Donna's huge sarcastic mouth for long... :P

We'll know the timeline is in real trouble if we run into the Peter Cushing version of the Doctor.

Just a quickie, before we get too far ahead, I may want to slow down to let Harry catch up. You don't need to arrive at the HQ at the same time, it actually works better if you do not so you can all react to other people showing up out of the blue. You can post away happily, but I won't do a huge plot dump until you all get together. Saves a lot of time and repetition!

Since I brought it up, I had to order a new copy of The Time Meddler.  I had worn out my VHS copy years ago anyway!"  I suspect I will not have to go through my collection and see what I am missing.  I have all the Patrick Troughtons.  And I suspect I haven't watched the last two I bought, which were Hartnell's last story and Troughton's first.

I was just rewatching St Trinians movies prior to tidying up that game. I had forgotten a ceratain Carole Ann Ford had been in th Train a Robbery movie as the French Mistress, looking oh so very chic and alluring. Made in 1966, so presumably not long after she left the Tardis.

It is such a shame that movie had to include the awful blackface scenes. I know it was of its time, but it does ruin it for me!

Quite a few movies and programmes have aged...poorly. It makes we wonder what things will look like with a remove of 40-50 years from our current day and age.

Funnily enough, I did briefly start a St Trinians game where the PCs were exiled time lords, sent to Earth as punishment and put in the school... kind of like Turlough, but they did not realise the school was a haven of crime and violence.

That’s a fun premise. :D

I am still super keen to run the game I have worked out for that system. Four or five players is ideal, but if you do not wish to, this is ok. I have a fair number of people who would jump at the chance, but I wanted to offer it to you fine people first! The normal version... not the Who crossover. If you are interested, we can discuss it. It is another multi chapter campaign, and very much silly and tongue in cheek. I have run the first chapter through once, and did start on a second run but it fizzled somewhat when a couple of players ghosted. But I have all my notes! Easy to dive into it at a moment's notice.

The system is easy d6, and all the rules you need are on the game, I spent a lot of time adding them, and vastly fleshing out the world building.

Ello all. Apologies. I've recently moved and don't have internet in the new place. I was going to take care of that today but I'm in quarantine due to a nasty case of Covid. :(

It is funny, the way things go. When someone posts about absence or illness and so forth on multiple games, and I realise we're playing in the same things. Given how many people use RPoL, it is really interesting how the same people are always crossing paths!

I've been trying to get caught up on New Who for a bit now, and the reaction to this is going to inspire me to make the final push, I think. :)

I just fell down a rabbit hole researching certain specific events during World War One. A fair bit of the forthcoming plot will be accurate in regards to some events, but I will also take some fairly hefty liberties, for narrative convenience. :D

I would like to write, but I've just finished a campaign on my end and I'm exhausted still, so I'll have to postpone that.

I actually taught a summer course on World War I, it was a history through games class.

Good! We, as a species, cannot afford to forget the things that happened like that. Those who do not learn from history, etc...

I have done a lot of research on WW1, as my grandfather was in the US Marines there.  So I am well learned on that.

Of course, no Classic Dr. Who would be complete without Victoria screaming, would it?

I am sure this is redundant, as you are all experienced RPoL people. But I want to add something here, as sometimes I run into players who do not do this.

At times, I will send you a PM, or a private line in IC threads, giving you information. It is always intended that you share this with your fellow characters in your poses, to help keep things going. I will be giving you clues, and important things! I know I could just put up a GM post doing that and revealing things, but this is a collaborative writing experience, and I want to give you the chance to express the information in your own ways, rather than railroading you. So if someone reveals some important information, chances are it is because I handed it to them.

I ran a game some time ago where I was giving one particular character a huge amount of vital info, and they never shared it. Just deteriorated to one or two lines per pose. It frustrates me, and it doesn't help the others. So you can all expect to be receiving information in a private manner from time to time. Have fun with it. :D

I hope everybody had some semblance of a good holiday season, whatever denomination you may represent! I also hope that your new year is a happy one! I am getting back to the game now. RPoL is always slow at this time of year, but you have not been abandoned. Still plenty of plot to uncover, and a few twist and turns that may well take you by surprise!

Well of course you have! this is Doctor Who, there's bound to be plenty more peril ahead! But I hope you will enjoy it. You'll each find plot elements written to accommodate your own peculiar talents and personalities, so if you worry that someone might be getting a little more attention than you are, do not fret! I always try to give people their chance to make a real difference to the plot!

My brother got hold of the newly released Season 2 Blu-Ray, and uploaded it to Plex. Some great extras on it, and I rewatched Planet of the Giants today. It really struck me again just how beautiful Carole-Ann Ford was. Absolutely breathtaking! And, The Web Planet notwithstanding, there's some really great material in Season 2. It also reaffirmed my decision to use the Time Meddler when I run this particular adventure.

If you get a chance to watch the Behind the Sofa extras on any of the Blu-Ray releases, they are a lot of fun to watch.

How did the LARP go, Oh mighty Eye?

It was wonderful! Such an amazing time, with great food, and lovely people. It has taken me a week to really get over the fatigue and pain that comes with it, though. I spent two days basically just asleep.

But it was worth it!

We're repainting the ceilings at my house, which is keeping me rather busy.

Glad you are back Harry! Sadly, there has been no activity here, which I accept full responsibility for causing. At the moment I am very unwell, wrestling with extreme pain and fatigue, and only just keeping my head above water. this may last some time, sadly.
