Noble Houses & Vassals of The Stormlands

House Rules and Guidelines::
The list below is current and are the known houses of The Stormlands. They are listed in groups, then alphabetical order. Group 1 Greater Vassels & Masterly Houses; Group 2 Lessor Vassels & Nobles Houses; Group 3 Restricted.

  1. Houses with an {*} are Greater Vassels & Major Houses. Players can not make characters that are direct family members of Greater Vassals. Only Co-GMs are allowed to NC these characters and houses. Players with GM approval may be allowed to be part of the house hold, with a position of status 1 or 2, and can not hold a title of position.

  2. Houses that are in ITALIC are Lessor Vassals & Minor Houses in which we could not find information in any cannon to work with. Players can develop these houses freely or until cannon is released to be added in the future. Co-GMs & GM have finial approval on their creation, but players will be allowed to develop these houses freely. There are no current restrictions for characters that fall under this section, and players are allowed to be heads of house and heirs.

  3. Restriction: Houses in or part of the follow list are restricted; The Stormland lords of the Dornish Marches. If a Player is interested in coming from these Lands or Houses they most first submit a developed and complete storyline with as much details as possible. The submittal most then fit with the others player houses and PCs. Please note that most (90%) of ideas for these houses will be rejected due to there backgrounds and social standing in the political setting of this game.

  4. Houses without sigils are open for players to create PCs except for 'The Lord' or 'Lady of the house'. Players are welcomed to create heirs and or 1st born sons and daughters as well as bastards. Plan carefully with Co-GMs & GM to discuss all ideas before making changes or development of these houses. You will be required to follow the current set-up. Players will have no control over how the house is developed during play. This includes house fortunes, wealth and other improvements unless a PC becomes 'The Lord' or 'Lady of the house'. Lastly if a player does gain control of a non-player house, they will be required not to alter that families history in any way with these PCs and they will be forced to follow known written history when the time arises.

  5. Houses with sigils are restricted for players to create PCs except for daughters. Players may play daughters of the family. Please keep in mind that they will be married off when they come of age and even sent away if betrothed. If already married the player will have some say in the matter. If they become of age during play (IC) it will be based on the current events of the game. Players may also create characters for these house holds (not family members) of statues 3 or lower and they may hold a title and position.

  6. Player Houses will not have restrictions in Player Character & Player House creation. Players will be allowed to freely develop these houses, characters and backgrounds. Please see link to a message in this game for player houses in The Stormlands.

House Baratheon

Great House
House Baratheon
House Baratheon: of Storm's End is one of the Great Houses of Westeros, and is the principal house in the Stormlands. Its seat, Storm's End, is an ancient castle raised by the Storm Kings. The Baratheon sigil is a crowned black stag on a field of gold. Members of the family tend to be tall and powerfully built, with black hair and blue eyes, as well as strong, square jawlines. They are known for their mercurial tempers, and their words are "Ours is the Fury".

Wards & Sworn Swords of House Baratheon

• Ser Dickon Connington (b. 132), a household knight

House Baratheon of Storm's End
Lord Borros Baratheon
Known as Borros 'the Younger' with a height of 6' 3", closely cut, dark black hair, and light blue eyes this man shows all the telltale qualities of a Baratheon. Dark stubble grows on his chin, roughly trimmed at all times so as to avoid a longer beard. By his broad shoulders and his mostly well-maintained physique, he obviously spends a good deal of time hard at work. That said, based on the faint roundness to his stomach, he also clearly enjoys his drink.
  Lord of Storm's End
Lady Cora Baratheon
It isn't difficult to see the remnants of great beauty, yet also refined by the recent illness which has left her skin milk white and thrown her superb cheekbones into high relief. Her figure is small yet stately, gaunt yet elegant, composed almost entirely of angles and pearls and elaborately arranged bloned hair beneath a veil of delicate golden lace. Whatever shape she may have is indeterminate: her flowing blue and gold silks, stitched in her own variation upon the latest King's Landing styles, see to that nicely, though her golden girdle with the buckle in the shape of a solid gold lioness provides the occasional hint. She speaks in a pleasant, educated alto, in the accents of the court and also with her long fingered and beringed white hands, which are in the habit of emerging from her sleeves, clawlike, to underline a point. She carries the scent of orange blossom, and something else which it would be difficult and expensive to try to pin down.
Lady of Storm's End
Leonor Baratheon
Famous for her awe-inspiring voice; Leonor is known among many as the Siren of Storm's End. It is said that every time the Stormland's sailors return home from sea, she emerges high upon the keep to sing them a traditional song of hearth. While she isn't very near in bloodline to the Lord of Storm's End, she resides within the family and is regarded as a lady of the house. Leonor's earlier life was spent the same as any female of noble blood; deep within the arts and trained in the craft of wifery.
Name & Position
Sirawen Baratheon
Standing a touch more than five foot, the young woman in front of you stands with a aloof feel about her. Tresses the colour of a raven's wing at midnight, cascade down this maiden's back ending just past her little lower back. A small heart shaped face gives the illusion of youth, perhaps about twenty years of age. To the side of a perky little nose are two eyes as brilliant as polished sapphire. Her eyes are set off by thick, long eyelashes, that lay softly against her cream colored skin when her lids are closed. Her mouth is small and with pale pink lips.
Name & Position
Shayla Storm
As the bastard daughter of a Stormlands whore and Corwen Baratheon the former head of House Baratheon, Shayla Storm was never destined to amount to much. Her father did acknowlege her though which is more than many bastards can say. Of course her mother was more than happy to accept the lords help in raising her daughter and gladly let Corwen pay for a proper education, dancing, and riding lessons for the young Shayla. Shayla was a beautiful child and had exposure to both nobles and less savory types as well. She could be charming and sweet but she was not the innocent flower many noblewomen were. Her mother begin to pressure her as she grew hoping her daughter could secure a wealthy husband that would allow them both to live in comfort. Shayla though was resistant to the idea and though she got many gifts from admirers she never seemed to get attached to any of them. When her father's heir was ready to take over House Baratheon, he assigned Shayla to be his sister's handmaid.
Handmaid to Sirawen
Amadys Baratheon
A lanky youth with an instantly recognisable look, the thick black locks and dark-blue eyes that immediately announce a scion of House Baratheon's male line. Amadys is dressed in acolyte's robes of grey trimmed with pale blue only when he has to be, otherwise in general preferring a series of fine black woollen tunics, and golden cloaks lined with grey miniver. A thin length of pale-gold wire keeps three Maester's links, one of copper, one of grey iron, and one of black, dangling at his throat, but much more noticeable is the gold-and-onyx stag signet ring on his right hand.
Acolyte of the Citadel
Lady Elinor Caron

House Buckler

Lessor Vassals (Minor Houses)
House Buckler
House Buckler: of Bronzegate is a noble house from Bronzegate in the Stormlands sworn to Storm's End and a formidable house. They are sometimes called the Guardians of the Gate. The Bronzegate from where the castle gets its names is second to only the Bloody Gates of the Vale. With their thick Stormland stone walls they have never had much of a problem with holding their lands. Their arms depict three brass buckles on blue and their words are "Holding Firm".

History
Robin Bukler, was murdered just one year ago by bandits in the Kingswood while putting down an uprising led by a landless knight. House Buckler’s reprisals have been brutal but the outlaw problem continues to grow. The current Lord of Northpoint, Michael Buckler, is ailing. His grandson Ser Steffon stands ready to take up the title of High Lord of Northpoint.

Domains

• Bronzegate is the town, gatehouse and castle. Part mining town, trading town, and military outpost, Bronzegate is always busy. It serves as the commercial center for the Stormlands. Hospitality is the name of the game at Bronzegate with services catering to nearly every need a traveler could have. It is also a gathering point for sell swords and hedge knights looking for work protecting those traveling through the Kingswood.

• Castle Bronzegate is located in the Stormlands at the Southeastern edge of Kingswood, Bronzegate is the seat of House Buckler, approximately 150 miles Northwest of Storm's End. The nearest settlements are Felwood, approximately 75 miles to the Southeast, and Haystack Hall, approximately 50 miles to the Northeast.

History

House Buckler is seated at Bronzegate where the Kingsroad exits the Kingswood. Originally a smelting center for the copper ores mined in the nearby hills and mountains, Bronzegate is also a busy way station for travelers and merchants on the Kingsroad. The Bucklers are an old and wealthy family with a strong martial tradition. Tasked with protecting both the Kingsroad and their mines, the family is quick to train its sons in warfare. With the volume of trade that passes through Bronzegate, the daughters of the family are often schooled in mercantilism, left to handle the business end of House Buckler’s affairs while the men deal with the martial aspects.

History

The Andal Invasion: The Carons are an ancient and powerful house of the Dornish Marches, with roots before the Andal Invasion over six thousand years ago. One of house's oldest named ancestors was Ser Bryce 'the Nightingale' (so nicknamed because of his singing, apparently). Caron, was the son of a companion of great knights and the kings, such as Artys Arryn and Garth Greenhand, though he was actually sworn to the knight who would take the Storm King's daughter and titles (and the name Durrendon for himself) some years after the first Andal landing at the Fingers. Having fought at the future Storm King's side through thick and thin, Bryce was granted lands in the Dornish Marches, a rough land constantly contested by the Reach, the Stormlands and the Dornish, and used his share of the loot from the last First Man Storm King's baggage train to found the castle of Nightsong. Lord Bryce and his sons did such a good job at keeping Garth Greenhand's grasping green fingers and the Dornishmen's spears out of the Stormlands that he was later raised to Lord of the Dornish Marches, making the Carons the Stormlands' first line of defense against invaders from the west or south. For the next six thousand years, House Caron ably served the Durrendon Storm Kings as the wardens of their western frontier, using both cold steel and the rough, mountainous terrain of the Dornish Marches to keep the Reachmen and Dornishmen out of the Stormlands.

The Rhoynar Invasion: Some time later, one of Bryce's distant descendants counted the future Lord of Blackhaven, a messenger with the name Dondarrion who was saved from a Dornish ambush by a miraculous lightning strike and was thus able to report a Dornish invasion to the Storm King, among his servants.

The Targaryen Dynasty: When the Targaryens came, Lord Arcon Caron naturally answered Storm King Argilac the Arrogant's call for his banners, leaving his son and heir Ser Beren to defend the Marches with a quarter of Nightsong's strength. He rode with the rest of the Stormlander host to meet Orys Baratheon's forces at the Last Storm and personally attempted to ride down Baratheon before he could reach Argilac, but the future Lord of the Stormlands killed his horse from underneath him and bashed his head in while he was still trapped beneath the destrier's corpse, before moving on to fight his famous duel with the Storm King. Upon learning of what had happened at the Last Storm, Beren quickly decided that he was not going to die like his father and was one of the Stormlords who delivered Princess Argella, Argilac's daughter, to Orys naked and in chains. While Orys removed her chains and treated her with courtesy, he at least appreciated the Stormlords' gesture and allowed them to keep their heads and titles, Arrec among them.

Since Arrec's time, the Carons have served the Baratheons just as loyally as they had the Durrendons. During the Dance of the Dragons, the Carons fought for Aegon II, and come the Blackfyre Rebellion Lord Harbert Caron stood with House Blackfyre but was later convinced to switch sides alongside Manfred Lothston at the Redgrass Field. When Robert raised his banners in rebellion against the mad Dragons, Lord Byron Caron rode at his side with all the strength of Nightsong. In victory and in defeat, from Summerhall to the Trident, the nightingales of Caron could be found flying beneath the stag of Baratheon.

House Dondarrion of The Stormlands
Haryl Dondarrion
Haryl is a good warrior, a kind man, and a generous Lord. He spent most of his youth trying to be close to his own father, Lord Cariel. Cariel is a hard man, who has little time for his children, though there was much to admire in his character and his sense of duty and honour. It was this sense of duty that led Cariel to fight the Dorne. Haryl directly disobeyed his father, staying at Blackhaven with a bulk of the Dondarrion forces, during one of the last battles against Dorne and many men followed the more charismatic son over their own Lord. Haryl acted (or indeed failed to act) not for greed or personal gain, and not even because it was the course his uncle suggested, but because he believed the cause was not a just one. It pained him terribly to go against his father, even though he had much love for the man. The pain only worsened when he learned Taric his cousin had been cut down in the battle. His steadfast nature led to the men naming him "The Anvil", to match the nickname given to Ser Ackley "The Hammer".
Lord of Blackhaven
Deria of House Caron
Shoulder-length curly brown hair, light brown eyes. Deria stands at 5'2", an inch or so shorter than her siblings. She usually wears light brown gowns to match her eyes, or clothes with golden trim. Deria has been sheltered most of life. As a child, Eolande spent most of her time in her family garden between her lessons. She is a perfect case of a person experiencing cognitive dissonance, meaning her thoughts are one thing, yet her actions are another. Her thoughts have always been defiant in the sense that she wishes to rise in power, but does not wish to defy the wishes of her husband or disappoint him.

However, it seemed his potential would be wasted in the eyes of many, as at sixteen years of age he elected to join the maesters, against the wishes of his father. He excelled in the Citadel, despite joining at a reltively late age, and within only eight years he was a single link away from earning his chain. Many viewed him as a future Grand Maester, but he left the Citadel to serve his house under mysterious circumstances. He is charismatic and dangerous, there is certainly more than meets the eye to Raemond. The mysteries of his past suggest he may be a man who knows far more about the goings on in Westeros than most, and he is certainly someone to keep an eye on.
Maester Rae
Menara Dondarrion
Description & History
Lady Menara Dondarrion
Osgred Selmy
Osgred was in consideration to be knighted, but he declined the honor for some unknown reason. In his younth he was a angry man always living in the shadows of others. He tried often to be his own man, but once he married, such things like taking the field of battle took a back seat to the courts. He kept his wife close, using her influeance to leap himself in politics. 'Old' Cariel Dondarrion can not stomach him and insults him any chance he gets. If it wasnt for the brother and sister love of the Dondarrion family, Osgred would have had an accident that ended him a long time ago.
Name & Position
Ser Ackley Selmy
The only living child of Menara Dondarrion & Osgred Selmy, Ser Ackley spent most of his life in the shadow of his brother, Taric, despite his skill with a blade. The situation only grew worse when Taric was getting ready to inherited his lordship. He grew further and further apart from his brother, who continually gave the loyal Ackley less important roles for the House. Ackley began to become something of a father figure to the younger Haryl, and took it upon himself to train the heir to Blackhaven at arms. They grew close, and when the battles broke out with Dorne, Haryl joined his uncle, partly as a result of Ackley's counsel. Ser Ackley fought at most of the battles against Dorne, as one of the Stormlands most well known and well respected soldiers. Ackley is a good-hearted man, but his temper is fearsome when roused. His brute strength and fury have earned him the nickname "The Hammer".
Ser Ackley Sworn to House Dondarrion
Dalaris of House Mertyns
Dalaris has an upbeat, bubbly personality. She can be rather loud, and extremely talkative, not one to ever be called shy. She hardly ever gets mad, and always tries to see the good in a person, even if they had previously done wrong to her. Dalaris isn't very physically strong. She has almost no knowledge how to use anything other than lady skills, and she can be overpowered rather easily; however, she does think quick on her feet. Dalaris is also guilty of having no filter. She tends to say what she wants, when she wants.

History

The Rhoynar Invasion: The first Dondarrion remembered by history was a messenger for the Storm King, many hundreds (or perhaps thousands) of years ago. Carrying a message of vital importance through the warzone of the Dornish Marches on a stormy night, he was ambushed by a pair of Dornishmen. His horse was killed by an arrow, and he was thrown from the saddle. In the fall, his sword was broken, and he believed death was inevitable. However, as the two men approached to finish him, they were struck down by a bolt of bright purple lightning. He stepped over their corpses, stole one of their mounts, and rode on with great haste. His vital message was delivered on time, and as a reward he was granted the Lordship of Blackhaven by the Storm King, at a vital chokepoint on the Dornish border. To this day, members of the House pride themselves on the swiftness of both their minds and their bodies.

The current status of House Dondarrion emerged during the last year of the Dance of Dragons when, in the hopes of providing further support and stabilizing the region. Marriages were arranged between House Caron and other houses in the Stormlands. One of those unions was between Lord Haryl Dondarrion, the current Lord of Blackhaven, and Lady Deria of House Caron. While perhaps not the most loving or affectionate of marriages, Lady Deria has given her husband children.

Dondarrions have always taken their duties seriously, whether it be protecting the Boneway (for Blackhaven sits on the northern end of the passage) or following the commands of their liege lord and the throne. When King Daeron came south to begin his conquest of Dorne, Blackhaven was given over to the King for his use as a staging ground for what was to come. The house also provided sons to join the King and venture down the Boneway and into battle. Blackhaven’s knowledge of the Boneway would prove to be invaluable. It is certainly expected that House Dondarrion will strive in the future to do all that is asked of them. The Dondarrion name is well-known at court in King’s Landing.

House Kellington
House Kellington: is a noble house from the Stormlands. A small coastal House in the southeast Rainwood, House Kellington is sworn to House Estermont. Possessed of a small fleet of ships, House Kellington is perhaps best known for the quality of the parchment that comes out of Tomekeep, over half of which is purchased annually by the Citadel in Oldtown. Tomekeep is well-known for its massive library, the pride of House Kellington. Traditionally, the Kellingtons have also taken pride in the literacy of their sons and daughters, and though none in the current generation have forged a chain at the Citadel, House Kellington's history is filled with many renowed maesters and produced more than a few Archmaesters. They blazon their arms with a black book bound in bronze, locked, upon a pale blue field and their words are "Wise and Strong". Their unofficial motto, which is well known amoung the nobles is "Powerful Through Knowledge".

History

Who's Who of House Kellington
Maege Kellington
A daughter of House Kelmore who spent a great deal of time in Tomekeep's library. She was always aware of young Samwell's fascination with her, despite being six years older than he. When he was twelve, House Kellington approached their bannermen about marriage between the two, and they were betrothed for four years until he got his spurs. Maege is an excellent Kellington, clever and well-learned, calm and not given to emotional outbursts
Lady Maege Kellington
Emberlei Kellington
The middle daughter of House Kellington is, as expected from House Kellington, quite well-educated and literate. With the dark hair common to her family, Emberlei has a somewhat husky, smoky voice and isn't particularly tall. She is known to speak several languages, and to have studied the healing arts with Maester Lomas
Lady Emberlei of Tomekeep
Walter Mowbray
Walter is the Squire to Ser Baris Kellington from the Stormlands. He came to be Ser Baris's squire more through his family's financial influence than any other means. Youngest son to a wealthy merchant, Walter would most definitely not inherit the family business. The boy was often left to his own devices while growing up and so when he finally asked his father if he could travel the world and learn the ways of the sword, the old man quickly complied. Through a trade agreement only known between the boy's father and Ser Baris Kellington, Walter was transferred to the Ser's tutelage. As a parting gift, the merchant bestowed upon the Ser a chest to give the boy when the Ser deemed him ready. It has been several months since then and Walter has proved a most apt learner, quickly taking to the tasks set him by the knight.

Today, their domain, Deepingbole, is deserted of all smallfolk, and its old tower, Oakenlance, lies in ruins. House Mertyns of The Stormlands
Dalaris of House Mertyns
The young Dalaris was to be the heir of House Mertyns, having seen a lifetime of tragedy. Though lovely to look at, she carries with her melancholy airs. She is a skilled singer and plays the harp beautifully.
Lady Dalaris
Lady Mary Mertyns
Known as 'Lady of Mistwood'. The Lady Mary is an older woman, with long lines etched into her face by years of grief and suffering. She is thin and grey, and almost seems a ghost occasionally glimpsed in the windows or haunting the battlements of Mistwood. She is quite reclusive, and rarely agrees to see anyone, preferring to let Septon Lewyn or Ser Mantarys tend to visitors.
Lady of Mistwood

History

Recent House Mertyns has been casted in deep tragedy, bourne of one misunderstanding and rash decision after another that has left the whole of the House very nearly wiped out entirely. With her husband Lord Tallis, Lady Mary Mertyns raised her children and ran her House as a good Lady and mother might be expected to. The Lord and Lady saw their daughter married to a noble of a good house - a marriage based in love that Lady Mary fought for until her husband permitted - and their son, Ser Allard, a great man who served at King's Landing, and now serves the Night's Watch. In short Ser Allard is the very joy of Lady Mary's life.

The trouble began, however, when Allard's mistress Dimesa was found in the gardens raped and murdered. In a rage, Allard accused Ser Percy of lusting after Dimesa from the day Allard brought her to King's Landing. Allard attacked Ser Percy, who was unarmed, and killed him, in front of his mother and sister. Lyessa fled to Mistwood. In a matter of days, she returned with knights, who investigated the matter and found the true murderer in short order - a stranger to the area. Lord of the knights brought Ser Allard to the King's court for justice, and they permitted him to take the Black. Losing his only heir broke Lord Tallis' heart, and he died less than a year after his son departed for the Wall. Lyessa has never returned home.

Now it is only Lady Mary in Mistwood, protected by their various retainers and the extended family of Mertyns. In recent years, Lady Mary has begun begrudgingly searching for a husband, waits for her beautiful young children, albeit one of melancholy airs. Lady Mary is mindful to find a good Lord Protector and has chosen for the domain Garse Mertyns who can rule until one of her children can produce a male heir to House Mertyns. Several of the young men around Mistwood would clearly love to play that role, though Ser Petyr Gamry and Ser Roryn compete the most to win Lady Dalaris attention.

House Mertyns of Mistwood is one of the most venerable noble lines of the Stormlands. To their distinguished ancestry and wide possessions, they have added the advantage of close alliance with their Baratheon liege lords; sealed in the marriage between Lord Baratheon and the current Lord Mertyns’s sister, Leyne. Despite this theoretical eminence, however, for some decades now the Lords of Mistwood have preferred to dwell in relative obscurity, far from the pitfalls of court and of warfare.

The Mertyns have always kept up a reputation for learning, though not necessarily of the kind offered by Citadel or Septry. Sons of Mistwood are bred to conform to a complex ideal; warriors, but with the sort of wisdom not always to be found in books. As for the Houses daughters, they are said to prize good counsel above beauty, and even riches. Many is the suitor to a Mertyns lady who has wracked his brow with despair at her enigmatic demands; and many a husband to a Mertyns lady has later blessed her shrewdness.

The present Lord of Mistwood, Garse, is as close and careful in his dealings as any of his ancestresses. During the Dance of the Dragons, still a boy, he watched his father navigate through a delicate policy, offering harbourage and homage, but naught else, to his Baratheon overlord, a supporter of Aegon II, while resisting the pressures of his siblings, Ser Conen Mertyns and Annis Massey, to declare for Rhaenyra.

The accession of King Daeron and the declaration of war upon Dorne found Lord Garse a perfectly hale man in his middle forties, but the cunning Mertyns pled a serious illness. In this, though, he did not command the allegiance of his whole family, and many Mertyns - younger branches, bastard cousins, and even Garse’s own younger son - fell in Dorne all the same.

Whether the House will always be so willing to wait and to watch is uncertain. The heir to the lordship, Ser Elys, is a notable fighter, and took the curious step of wedding Olyria Frey, though House Frey is not ancient, rich, or very well-reputed, and an alliance with a northern Riverlord seems of limited use in the Stormlands. Rumour also has it that for a peaceful House, the Mertyns employ a strangely numerous entourage of private soldiery. Perhaps the Owls merely await the hour to hunt.

Stonehelm: is a castle in the stormlands and is the ancient seat of House Swann. Its watchtowers are made of black and white stone. The castle is situated in the Red Watch region of the eastern Dornish Marches, on Cape Wrath along the coast of the Sea of Dorne. It was built to oversee the Slayne, a major river route in the stormlands.

Red Watch: is the region around Stonehelm in the southern Stormlands, where the Red Mountains meet Cape Wrath. It is part of the eastern Dornish Marches and is ruled by House Swann.

Cape Wrath: the western edge of the peninsula is mountainous and includes Stonehelm in the Red Watch.

History

House Swann is an old noble house, regarded as proud, powerful and cautious. They have governed these lands for as long as any can remember. They rule from Stonehelm, overseeing a major river route inland to the Stormlands, gaining them much wealth and power. They are probably the second most powerful and influential family in the Stormlands, after the Baratheons.

House Swann of Stonehelm
Gulian Swann
Lord of the House, a man in his early fifties, Lord Gulian was a warrior during The Conquest of Dorne. He has seen the deaths of two wives already, although rumor claims he is about to take a third. He is the son of the famous beauty of her day, Jeyne Swann, who was rescued by Ser Barristan Selmy in his youth.
Lord of Stonehelm
Ser Donnel Swann
Heir to the House. Though not quite the warrior his younger brother is, Ser Donnel is an astute politician. He is thinly muscled and handsome, with the chestnut hair of his family, and a close-shorn beard. He has recently returned to Stonehelm from being part of the Targaryen household at Dragonstone.
Heir to Stonehelm
Ser Balon Swann
The second son of Lord Gulian, Ser Balon is tall and broad-chested. Tremendously strong, he is good with the lance, better with the morningstar and exceptional with the bow. Balon is quiet, perceptive rather than sullen. He has recently departed to King's Landing, to join the Targaryen household.
2nd Son of Lord Gulian
Rickard Swann
Rickard is fond of drink and likes to think he is a great judge of good liquor. Fortunately, he is typically sober and can often be found hunting, although his passion is fighting people. He has an eye for the greater scheme of things, especially militarily, and is prone to forgetting the importance of finesse in politics. Still, he at least attempts to handle things as diplomatically as possible. Dark of hair and eyes, with a neatly trimmed beard.
Castellan of Stonehelm
Ser Sumner Storm
A bastard of a small Rainwood House, Ser Sumner has recently come into Lord Gulian's service after Lord Gulian saw him win a small tourney on Estermont. Ser Sumner has a squire of sixteen named Vayon, and he marks his arms with a dun chief with three seashells, above a field of sea-green.
Tourney Knight
Ser Warryn
Young and competitive, Ser Warryn is a thin man but quite skilled at arms. He has long dark hair, and a Dornish cast to his features. His arms are a field of crimson, with three white lilies.
Master-at-Arms
Ser Avery Grandison
A grandson of House Grandison, Ser Avery is a perfectly competent knight, though rarely stands out in any way. He has a squire of House Lohaq, and bears the arms of his House.
Captian of the Guards
Ser Quayle Velt
Silver-headed and blue-eyed, Quayle is the heir of Owlkeep. Recently knighted for a martial victory at Lord Swann's Wedding Tourney, Ser Quayle swore to enter service with House Swann as part of a deal that allowed his grandmother to take vows with the Silent Sisters instead of being executed for her treason. His service at Stonehelm has just begun, where his fellow knights have found him a prodigy with the bastard sword. The young man eagerly anticipates that day when Eclipse, the House's Valyrian steel blade, is his as lord.
Heir to House Velt

Marchwatch: these lands start far from Stonehelm in the northern region of Cap Wrath by Marchwater Tower near the source of the Slayne and it's also were the Marchwater Road starts. The Marchwatch and Marchwater Road ends at the busy ferry of on the edge of Red Watch of Stonehelm which is used to cross the mouth of the Slayne.

Slayne: to the east and northern reaches of this river is Marchwatch. Known for its waterfalls, and pools at its source of the Slayne, it flows south through the northeastern Red Mountains, down the west of Cape Wrath and ends at the Red Watch were the castle of Stonehelm rests, the seat of House Swann, which overlooks the Slayne, and the major river route of the stormlands.

History

Sigmund Swann
Sigmund is the second highest military rank under Lord Gulian. He is the brother-in-law of Lord Borros 'the younger' Baratheon. Sigmund Swann has proven his worth during the Conquest of Dorne, attacking The Tor in the Dornish Marches in 151 AL alongside his liege, Corwen Baratheon and the other Stormlords and their Eastern Reach allies. For his achievements in battle, Sigmund was awarded the title Commander and Chief Bannerman of the Stormlands. He is known as a rather tall and handsome male, respected for his educated mind. He has a charismatic attitude and is renowned for his martial abilities throughout Stormlands and Westeros. He is unquestionably loyal to the house of Baratheon.
Maerwynne Baratheon
Maerwynne of House Baratheon is reclusive, and very cautious. She loves 'her children' very much. Nicknamed the Black Swan for having mourned her late father for so long, she now lives a secretive life, hardly ever leaving Stonehelm. She believes her father was killed by a poisoned Dornish blade so is very wary of what she eats and drinks. Her children are the only remaining family in the world, and she has developed a very close bond with Elena and Rolland.
Elena Swann
Elena is very serious, adventurous and concerned about preserving the family. Raised as any normal noble lady would be until age 15. She has involved herself in the house affairs whilst her brother grew up in knighthood, this resulted in her learning the basics of economics and diplomacy until he marries. She grew up to be beautiful and tall though her fathers’ doting has made her vain. Her relationship with her brother can be as rocky as Shipbreakers bay at times yet the calm always return and the loyalty to ones family is the primary virtue emphasized among the members of House Swann. She understands that her older brother will eventually seek to find her a match but the two have discussed the issue in the past and he is content to delay her wedding for as long as possible letting her enjoy the freedoms of youth as she blossoms into an ever more beautiful woman. She knows however that it is unlikely that she will marry for love considering how precarious her family's situation is right now.
Rolland Swann
Rolland is proud, cunning and cautious yet easily swayed by lust, with some martial skill, essentially raised by Stonehelm’s Master at Arms and its’ maester for many years. Rolland became a man well before his sixteenth name day, and ike his father Rolland is a fine warrior who has proved himself against bandits and other squires alike. Although still a squire it is expected that Rolland shall be knighted his eighteenth nameday as all knew his father had intended. For now he is heir to one of House Swann's largest estate with extensive lands. Although lordship is not coming easily to Rolland, Maester Wex taught him much about money handling and the theory of warfare whilst Stonehelms' master of arms honed his muscles, taught him to fight with both Sword, mace and Longbow.  Aware of his youth an inexperience Rolland did not cast off his teachers as he grew up realizing that they yet had much to teach him about his duties.

Family Tree

• Lord Sigmund Balgair (b. 109), Lord of Balgair Hall, m. Lady Bethany XXX (b. 129)

Domains

Balgair Hall: is a coastal settlement halfway between a small castle and a town, that offers Southern Westerosi merchants an alternative to the perils of Shipbreakers Bay. Portside Harbor is a port town, that is built simultaneously on the coast as well as on little islets arranged in a triangular fashion where the homes of well to do merchants are as well as the principal markets. In addition House Swann's castle home is located on the east of the same region.

Slayne: is a river in the stormlands. Known for its pools, and waterfalls, the Slayne flows north to south in the northeastern Red Mountains, west of Cape Wrath. The Halls of House Balgair rest on the banks of the river, and overlooks the Slayne, a major river route in the stormlands.

History

Sigmund ascended as Lord of the Balgair House when Gulian was sixteen at the time and known as a rebellious soul. The moment Sigmund was made his superior, Gulian threw a fit and was thrown out of the ceremony. The young sixteen year old at the time was not a genius at all. He inherited no good trait of his father and only his good looks from his mother; a weak and lesser minded character of the Swann family. He sought to undermine his father, who let it happen, only for the enjoyment. Sigmund decided to keep his brother away from Balgair Hall and appointed him Master of Portside Harbor by request to his brother-in-law. Gulian would prove to be well-loved in Stonehelm and took up a liking for combat and reading. Though surrounded by loyalists to Sigmund Swann, Gulian has learned from his mistakes and amended ties with his bannermen.

Sigmund Balgair takes usual strolls and speaks with the people. He also throws plays that were created by him which are renowned throughout House Swann and the Stormlands as great performances. He is a slightly fat character with great smile and personality, but is weak-willed and lesser minded when it comes to politics and military, relying upon those appointed by Gulian for guidance. He enjoys a happy marriage with Bethany, a former huntress and a capable woman of his court who has used his connections to be the power behind the seat in Balgair Hall. Though she holds no ill-will to the Swanns nor Stormlands, she manipulates her husband to ensure that nobody can try to usurps his power.
Robert Storm
A bastard, but a well looked after one. Whoever his father is, he took care of Robert's mother (one of the Balgair servants) and Robert. He is a large, powerfully built man with dark hair and a darker temper (various people call him Black Rob although rarely to his face). He likes to drink and fight and loves to combine the two. He's bitten several men's ears off in tavern brawls. Aside from his presumably important father, he's an exceptional archer so Lord Balgair is often glad of his presence.
Bastard of Balgair Hall
Rufus Rofessa
A young man, and third son of a minor mercantile house. Rufus was on board a ship caught bringing in smuggled goods. He was taken and made a ward to House Balgair in an effort to curb his house and their activities. As a ward, his family can still operate, but under House Belgair close supervision. Rufus was brought up and is known to use underhanded tactics.
Ward of House Balgair

House Wensington

Lesser Vassals (Noble Houses)
House Wagstaff
House Wagstaff: is a noble house from the Stormlands. Arguably the oldest of the Shipbreaker Bay Houses, House Wagstaff has been a House in decline for as long as anyone can remember. Its lands are practically wilderness, with what few smallfolk they have clustered around their seat. Nonetheless, they are rather well known for their history of stunning military victories. They blazon their arms with five yellow mascles on green.
