In the other game yeah but people aren't very responsive. I've lost interest myself but I'll probably pick it back up in the future.

It would absolutely need people to respond more than once a week though.

Behind the Arena: Intrigue game about the city around the arena. The gambling, the crime, the politics, etc. You'll need more than raw strength to navigate the web of lies and mysteries surrounding the creator of the arena and the current people pulling the strings keeping it running along with the seedy underbelly of the City of Swords.

Cataclysm: It was just another day in the life when the fire split the sky and two titans fell from the skies crashing into the harbor. Flaming rocks rained down all around them destroying parts of the city and washing over the arena. The two titanic beings continued their battle with mythic power exceeding even the feats and powers seen in the arena. It dawns on the mortals below that for the first time in ages, two gods have taken physical form and begun battling it out in the mortal realm. Monsters begin crawling up from the depths, no longer held in check by the power of the gods or the arena cages and eldritch mishaps and magical glitches begin occurring all around as spells no longer seem to follow their normal rules. Can you survive the cataclysm?

Tournament of Power: One of the gods has died in a mythic battle that has rattled the world. The gods are now hosting a tournament that's not like other tournaments (more like Hunger Games). Last one standing gets a seat at the table of the gods in order to bring the world back into balance. High levelers only.

Post rate crashed. I think the only way to revive would be to get a wave of new blood at this point. People don't check this as often as is needed to keep it going as it is.

 I'm always game! But would rather not play with myself -I do that enough on my own time.

Anyone know any other PF1 players who'd be interested in a Play by Post tournament?

I think we need to get a wave of new people to get this jump started again.

Speaking of post rates (sorry Arkrim for “ghosting” on that monster game!) is there a way to get email notifications about posts in different games? I probably disabled that when I was very active. Nowadays I try to start something up here, then things happen and I forget to check in for a week, and then - literally in this case - 9 months pass before I realize I can check up rpol again. I check my email daily though, so it would be a good reminder for me :D

User Preferences --> Modify your notification schedule --> Check for new messages every [selection] --> Update Schedule

Weird, I have that setting on, checked my e-mail address and my spam folder… it’s gotta work somehow…
Edit: it seems the site treats the standard 2:00 every day as “no notifications”. Probably have it working now. Now to hope for a king-of-the-hill between Josep, Latro and Hiro!

Yeah nobody has challenged anybody else b/c people don't check it very often anymore.

 Yeah last I challenged was December 2019, and it flopped. I also challenged in the PF2 test, which flopped too. Then I created a character for the Arena Adventure Path we were going to do, but that flopped. Lastly I created a monster for the Monstrous campaign we started, but... well you get the point.

 I'm still keen to do something here, but I have trust issues now :/
 Not sure that anything we start will actually make it to the first in game post.

Maybe. I thought we had a a gang of three for the monster inc. did we not?
Admittedly 3 is a bit short, 4 would be better.

We had 3 express interest but only 1 of you actually built a character to completion and 1 of those participants turned out to be a toxic player. I would've preferred 4 players that actually finished character creation and didn't engage in nonstop toxic behavior.

Shiet, sounds rough having to deal with toxicity >_< Myself I was hyped for the monster thing, but I’m not doing it now cuz I think it’s a too big commitment for me atm. I’m hoping to play a regular game here some time in the future, not soon though. A regular duel I’d know what to expect. Just trying to lurk regularly though, so I get into the habit of checking in on the site. Was a bunch of years since I last had that habit properly, and the last time I tried I just disappeared obviously.

Yeah, that's the thing with community games, the steam can't come from just 1 player or GM. You need the whole group to be checking in regularly. I'm still here, I never left. I check RPOL almost every day.

If you ever want to duel again nothing stops any of you other than ensuring you challenge someone who regularly checks RPOL.

Would you guys want to do a Discord Channel?

I don’t do Discord, but I’m keen to rekindle the Monster campaign (or the previous one) if other players are keen.

 I think when we did the monstrous start, I brought in a guy from an other game.

Indeed it would be nice. Been a while since people on the arena all been active at the same time. Seems like someone will post and then months will pass and someone else will post. Pity. And new blood is hard to find. All the whippersnappers are on Discord and Twitch.

I mean, a standard/basic level 1 thing would be a good way to “start up” again, or try it out again… I’ve got the kind of breaks at work, that fit this well.

 I haven't done any PF2 at all.
 So a good old core PF1 would be good for me :)
 I'm saying core because I don't want to run through a dozen books to find the optimised advanced half-dragon drow with the right combination of archetypes and alternate class features to survive 2 rounds...

Haha I didn’t know such things could be done with a level 1 character :D Well, I can go for that. Even core could work out nicely :) I have a suspicion that there’s a very limited niche of builds that will have an extreme advantage in level 1 combat with tons of hp, but on the other hand my default mode is to find the main stream and try to swim the opposite direction so maybe this alleged advantage wouldn’t even change anything from how I like to play anyway.

2e was an option here but it never took off. Most stick with 1e here.

I don't really like level 1 myself.

PF really gets good around level 5ish and crazy around 15ish.

But you can play at any level below your max as you see fit.

I agree, level 1 is maybe not that fun.
But I thought it would be cool to do a rematch at level 2, and so on and so forth :)

You can play your arena characters but it would be a 10,000 BP version of them. Of course, you can make it a past or weakened version of their full self in case they're recovering from an injury or haven't made a name for themselves yet.

New Guy is building his character. Anyone else other than Josep up for a campaign? I know we get quiet lately but hopefully someone's checking their RPOL accounts.

Give them a moment... not everyone logs in twice daily like an RP fiend needing a fix.

Welcome veterans and newcomers alike. If we can get at least 4 players we can start up the adventure. If you want to spar in the arena in the meantime, feel free.

I could do an arena match if someone is up for it. Sadly my schtick is very badly hampered by the arena rules. I would have built things is a somewhat different order if I had planned on dueling.

You can actually adjust your build between matches and even drop stipulations in the challenge.

For example, if you were a Ranger with Favored Terrain (Woodlands) and someone challenged you, you could agree, but only if the terrain is woodlands.

Or say you had 100k BP and someone with only 10k BP challenged you. You could spend only 10k to build your character for the match but go back to your normal build afterwards.

If you switch race or class or make any big changes you do have to declare doing so in the challenge though.

That's good at least. I'm relatively duel ready just swapping two feats. If anyone is up for it.

Anyone up for the campaign? Gonna need more than just 2.
