The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

I'll open the new thread here. I was hoping to move things along today, but Den beat me to it. I like when that happens. :)

Also, I am going to open up the game to one more candidate. I'd like to get one more player, but I will be very picky about selecting someone to add.

The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

Just to be clear on positioning. You are in the center of the hangar on the near wall, and on the ground floor going into the hangar bay, same level as the clones and the 2 ships (your ship and the shuttle). You are directly under a catwalk and the control center for the hangar.  The shuttle and the clones are at short range, the clones near your ship are at medium range. The bay turbo-lift shaft is at short range, as are the stairs going up to the catwalk are short range to the left and to the right of the group.

The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

I was waiting for Den to post his character's action/reactions.. I'll give him until tomorrow and then I will move it forward.

I am interviewing a bunch of people for the next open spot, so I am running them through some basic scenarios to see how they role-play and describe actions, etc. So you may see names popup, since I have to add them to use the dice roller. Just ignore the dice rolls, it won't be part of the game, just their sample encounter.

The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

OOC:  So wow, K1T1 tied for the best roll, giving the first initiative slot to the PC group! But the next two slots go to the enemies. Then everyone else can take actions. So who wants the first slot? I might suggest Master Rancisis. He is a Jedi Master after all, but I'll leave that up to you.

On a side note, you don't have to put 1's for single dice (see below P A instead of 1P 1A, or just A A for 2 ability dice). I didn't realize that was an option before and just figured it out. Saves time not putting extra numbers when you can just put it all letters, unless its really a lot of dice. ;)

15:14, Today: ChosenOne, for the NPC Master Rancisis, rolled 1 success, 3 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 2P A ((2(P), 6(P), 8(A))).

15:07, Today: Secret Roll: ChosenOne, for the NPC Clone officers, rolled 3 successes, 1 advantage using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of P A with rolls of 7(P), 4(A).

15:07, Today: Secret Roll: ChosenOne, for the NPC Clone Troopers, rolled 4 successes using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of P A with rolls of 5(P), 4(A).  initiative.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

I ran out of time to finish the next post, before I had to go to a meeting for the clones turns.

No, there is a squad of 3 clones and a clone jr. officer at the Shrieking Acklay. You can't go straight there, because you have to run around the large turbolift shaft that's down and makes a big pit in between you and Tylen's ship. So it and those clones are at medium range.

There is another 3 clones plus an officer at the shuttle to the right, but closer toward the front where you are. It and the clones there are at short range.

I will post the clones action tomorrow, its getting late and I have to get up early. I did roll to see who would get attacked, randomly. I used 3F and whoever has the most dark side points gets attacked. On a tie, whoever has the least light side takes it, so Tarrin was out. It was a tie between Den and Master Oppo.

Since only two squads are attacking, they are receiving the brunt of it. This turn.

2018-09-05 20:32:47 Master Rancisis FotR roll for who gets attacked. 3eF 3 Dark Side
2018-09-05 20:31:42 Den FotR roll for who gets attacked. 3eF 3 Dark Side
2018-09-05 20:31:18 Raana FotR roll for who gets attacked. 3eF 3 Light Side, 2 Dark Side
2018-09-05 20:30:43 Tarrin FotR roll for who gets attacked. 3eF 2 Light Side, 3 Dark Side

In reply to Den Jaxon (msg # 30):

Den unless you purchased a range upgrade for Influence, you have to be at engaged range with the target (currently you are at medium range from that target. That's fine, but you will have to use 2 maneuvers and suffer 2 strain in order for that to work. Unless you purchased range (it would have to be to range upgrades to work at medium). You can do that to the clones at short range to the right by the shuttle, and take no strain and just use a maneuver to move to engaged.  Let me know which you choose, or if you bought something that I didn't note.

I wasn’t thinking about my Sense (that’s up though, luckily). I meant the +1 Ranged Defense I got from using three Advantages. I don’t think the upgrades from my Sense are going to help much since I don’t have Improved Reflect much less any Reflect at all. /sob

I'm looking at the F&D Beta Core Rulebook since I don't have my regular book with me at the moment, but it should be similar.

You follow the left most column,  GRIT >   KEEN-EYED  >  ANIMAL EMPATHY then you can go right to ANIMAL BOND or down to MENTAL BOND then you can access FORCE RATING from either of those two.

Yes, Tarrin. Another roll is fine. I will leave it up to you. If you want to do a total re-roll or an adjustment.

I just tried fudging a roll to see what the number actually means. So the last difficulty die can be removed, which the result was 8(D). 8 on difficulty die is 1 failure and 1 threat. So you can just roll a challenge die, and mark the differences to update.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

Ok. So I moved my action and rerolled.

07:38, Today: Den Jaxon rolled no successes, 1 advantage, 1 triumph using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1A 2P 2D 1B with rolls of 6(A), 1(P), 12(P), 1(D), 2(D), 2(B).  Lightsaber.

So I miss, but get a triumph. What benefit can we get from this? I can edit my post once we come up with something good.

My idea is that I slashed some of the obstacles that creates cover for us as we make our way to the ship.

Triumphs can do all the effects Advantages can do (+1 Melee or Ranged Defense, activate abilities, etc.), but can also Upgrade the difficulty of the targeted enemy's next check, upgrade the next check of you or anyone else on the team, or do something vital like hit the controls to the blast doors to seal them shut.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

With Jedi you can do even more, using a bit of the Force to knock people off balance, do a flip over someone to a spot, etc.. Nothing to the level of using the full Force power, but kind of like cantrip style affect (if you are familiar with D&D, 0 level spells which is like creating a few swirling balls of light that doesn't do anything but distract or confuse, or change someones skin color temporarily, things like that).

Since you were talking about clearing a path, a little Force nudge to make them shuffle clear of the center as you attack would work fine and clear your way to get into the ship.

There were two groups of people we were fighting.  Officer at our ship with troopers there, and a Junior Officer with troopers in front of another shuttle (which is where I think our Master is).  I stabbed up the  Officer at our ship in order to break up the defense there to allow us to escape more easily.

One thing I'm going to need clarification on is what happened last round.  Is it the Officer that I'm fighting that went from 2 failures and 1 threat to 2 failures and 3 Advantages from the forgotten Boost (which I don't understand as that would require two Boost dice to give the 4 Advantage deficit). Or was that the one fighting the Jedi Master?

I don't quite understand if I'm fighting the one that has +1 Melee Defense right now?  It would help if you gave us a bit of clarification on which is where that you're rolling for.

I see what your talking about now, that was an error. It should have been 2 failures 1 advantage.. not 3. I ended up adding the advantages instead of subtracting from the threat. So he doesn't actually have +1 defense for cover. We can just leave the narrative, but you can just move around the strut without hindrance. He will instead give a boost back to their next ally.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

Raana is attacking the clone troopers and managed a hit by a narrow margin:

19:12, Today: Raana De'Fenn rolled 1 success, 2 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3A 1P 1B 2D with rolls of 5(A), 5(A), 6(A), 2(P), 5(B), 4(D), 7(D).  Attacking clone troopers, boost for aiming.

That is 7 damage, breach 1, which should finish one off. A single advantage will activate a critical hit, killing another.

I would very much like to use the last advantage to notice something about the fight, and have a specific thing in mind. So far, Raana is convinced those are not clones but impostors. Nothing else can make sense for her. I wonder if for one advantage I can narrate her taking the head off one of them clean, only to see the helmet roll off the head as it lands on the floor, reviling a clone's head.

Let me know if that works, and if the 7-damage blow kills one and wounds another, as I suspect, and I'll get an IC post up.

Again, apologies for the delay, I was away all weekend and had a bunch of stuff I had to catch up on.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

That would work fine, a crit kill allows for beheading on minions, or just cracking the helmet open with a blow that reveals half the face. Either would work in that context. The latter could be used to more effect. The clone reveals his last words as he dies are just a mantra, "must kill Jedi.." over and over, as if he is repeating programming and not using his own free will.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

Alright that brings us to Round 3.   I can have the Master go again. He does have a cool talent, Unity Assault.  If a missed attack generates Triumph or 3 advantages, he can spend a Force power targeting allies as a maneuver. So he can basically use protect on one or more of the Jedi. But that's only on a miss..

So, Oppo's not in much danger at the moment. You might want to have someone go in your group before the clones officers attack. I leave that up to you to decide.

Actually, I think it holds up pretty well.

He said 'he doubts' the information is on the datapad. What he is intimating is that it is unlikely that the codes are on the 'desktop' of the datapad. It is one thing to use it as access to the system, it is another to hope that the guy that owned it wrote down the list of passwords for the day.

Again, he 'doubted' the information was on there. Doesn't mean it isn't.

Further, he only has some access to the shields, but zero access to the tractor beams.

I updated my post a touch for clarity, but the bulk of it remained.

Probably, me not communicating everything that's in my head effectively. Bunch of Jedi here, you should be reading my mind.. :P

The datapad roll would be for having the shield codes. Though, I should have made that a lot higher, but it is moot anyway since Kyle has them already. The override codes for tractor beams are at command level, so that wouldn't be on a datapad, even one from a senior officer.

The other roll for bypassing security allows access to the defense system, and a further command override computer slice would be needed to take out the tractor beams. Which will be moot also if Master Oppo destroys the generator. But, K1 could get into the system and maybe do some other things to help them escape, if he slices in... (like redirecting forces for a bigger threat, cancelling fighter support, cancelling the alert in the hangar, etc. to name a few).

I know Den was trying to talk with the Master (which was after the post where he jumped up), but he leapt away before Den finished his sentence so there was no response.. we can leave it at that. There wasn't time for a discussion..

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

Taking off in the ship would normally be automatic, but because this ship is fairly unfamiliar to the pilot (Raana, plus Tylen did the piloting so nobody else has any experience flying this), and you are in a rush, you will need to make a 1D piloting, space skill check. Also the controls are bizzarely modified on this ship so add 1S. I am going to spend a destiny point to upgrade to 1C because you are also feeling the affects now of multiple deaths of Jedi. You can add 2B for assistance from Tarrin, K1 and Den on the controls. So total added to your base dice pool will be 2B 1C 1S.

 ■ ■

K1 actually has astrogation (and a Intellect of 4), which he has most likely mentioned during the course of your travels, so we'll just say that is something already known.

The difficulty for the Astrogation check is going to be 3D ( ◆ ◆ ◆ )  due to the fact that you are having to plot it quickly and are not taking a heavily traveled hyperspace route.

That's a looot of advantages to play with. If you have something in mind I'm certainly open to that. One potential use of some of the advantages is that Raana intuitively 'gets' the bizarre modifications to the controls and no longer needs to take a setback for further checks. The rest could be used to avoid dangerous areas outside the station, gun embankments and fighter patrols?

You can use one more advantage, perhaps you see when you boot up the navicomputer that Tylen had set an emergency hyperspace course, which he did out of habit for a quick escape (smuggler's mentality, always looking for an exit strategy), which will give K1 a boost to his astrogation roll.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

The dice gods did not want you guys to get away so easily in this scene.. which I haven't prepared for.  Well, can the blind Jedi man a laser cannon?  I'm not sure how Tarrin's senses would work with space craft positioning..

Good thing you have a soldier for one of the guns, and since they are behind you.. only the Outrigger Turret Mounted Medium Laser Cannon can fire both fore and aft directions, the concussion launcher and Ventral Wing Mounted Medium laser cannon only fire forward.

Kyle, the outrigger laser cannon controls looks like a periscope (based on Clone Wars series) and is located in the center of the cockpit (for descriptive purposes).

Anyway, in the interest of fairness to the ARC-170's, please roll for initiative. I would recommend giving the 1st PC slot to K1 to plot a new course..

Is the Shrieking Ackley the ship in the 'Game Map' section? I wasn't sure because it was listed as a Medium Transport, but the SA appears to be a Light Freighter.

Also, I'm hoping the outrigger laser cannon counts and Ranged (Heavy), otherwise I'm just rolling 3A...and I need to be told we've got incoming. Or I suppose I could ask. Either way. ;)

We are at the point that Raana called for a meeting in the common area of the ship. The ship is in hyperspace, but its a short jump. So there is only about 15 minutes before you have to plot a new course ultimately for Karun IV at the edge of the Outer Rim. It can be a quick meeting, but it also could be continued after the second and final course plot.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

Kyle, I meant for the questions to come up in OOC thread here, with less detail and more of a summary, then we can put that to detail in the 'in character' post.. basically we are forming a kind of outline for the story thread for this discussion here first.

Example questions/discussions.  Should we attempt to contact other Jedi? What is happening with the Separatists? Do we have enough fuel to make it all the way to the fringes of the galaxy? etc.

some may need rolls, some just discussions. I prefer to do that here and then post to the story thread. Just because there are going to be lots of questions and one posting, then checking if they know the answer in character, then posting an answer.. then others waiting for that to finish then asking another question.. will take a very long time, especially when some questions will lead to new questions or further discussion.

Questions, comments about this process? I know its a bit unorthodox, but for forum games I believe it would be better. Especially given these particular circumstances where everything has just changed dramatically.

Well, obviously, question 1 is what are we going to do now. We don't know how widespread this is, so we should try and contact other jedi or even Coruscant. Also, I'd imagine we have to hide the fact that we're jedi, just in case. It could be an isolated incident, or it could be galaxy wide.

I would like to try and keep the story thread left to read like part of a book, so no OOC's, except at the bottom of the story post and color coded orange so it can be ignored when reading back through the posts for story information, or visa-versa, looking through orange text to get ooc stuff like boosts added or spent advantages rule effects, etc.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this either way.  There's merit in discussing it IC, I think, since it can promote character development.  I've been kind of silent since your suggestion, GM, because I really didn't know how to really engage this topic OOC.  Are we going to vote on this to make a decision or something?  It feels like there are too many options and without a way to narrow it down, we'll end up dragging OOC instead of dragging IC.

I think what we're going for is once we lay out our questions and answers OOCly, we can present them ICly in a nice concise format. The RPing can happen once we have an idea the direction the conversation is going.

I would prefer to just post the questions and answers in character as Tarrin had suggested, but I see a merit in doing it the other way as well.

Reposted from the IC thread...I'll clean this up a bit later.

Keilbrun was ready to truly introduce himself, but he waited for an appropriate time or until they asked more of his background. As a former Senate Guard, for however a short period, he had met several Jedi who they may or may not know. That said, he had been pushed to the rest of the Army some time ago as Palpatine wanted to surround himself with a more 'select' group of guards.

Mostly, he tried to glean safe, or safer, places to go as they knew them. He would tell them what he knew of how clone soldiers operated, ensuring that compliance would likely be universal based on his experience, while they may be more flexibility in the rest of the Army. Either way, any interaction with Republic forces would be incredibly dangerous as he had received the Order, as well. Only his own experience with the Jedi keeping him from immediately following it.

Lastly, it would be clear that he is in it for the long haul to help them as best he could as he had now committed treason against the Republic.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

Let’s just start with the basics. I’m not saying the whole discussions here, just starts here, plainly stating the basic question. Raana called the meeting, but really anyone can speak up and ask whatever they want. If The player running Raana isn’t available to post Den, Tarrin or the others can speak up. Not all at once, still one at a time pretty much.

But I’m just saying not discuss all of coversation here in OOC either, but just post the question you are going to ask here first. Then somebody can post here, ‘hey I can answer that’or someone might have to roll a knowledge check about the answer etc. and they post the roll and then get some info and can post a summary of their response. Then after the one asking the question posts in character that question, the one with answer is already ready to post their in character response. Saving us days of time, since just posting the basic question and response takes only a few minutes without having to correct it and show thoughts and expressions and all the other stuff for a good in character post.

Does that make more sense? I was multi-tasking at work so I probably didn’t explain my thoughts well enough. We did something close to that in Hangouts early on for one of the scenes, I think with the Nexu.

I'm not sure why role playing can't happen when your only posting a brief summary of what your going to say or ask ahead of time in OOC. Then you're full blown role playing post to follow in the story thread (and you can take your time getting it done well without holding up time).  This is just giving a chance for the responder and me to have rolls made or think about their response.

But since I'm not getting this idea across, we'll just do it the regular way.

In my case, it’s largely because I never plan what I’m going to RP out ahead of time. I’m an organic writer who really just gets in the headspace of the character and lets them take the wheel. So, I never really know what I’m going to write until I’m already writing it.

It’s probably just a different methodology of writing from yours. But, it does make what you suggested pretty difficult for me to perform.

Let's see how K1 and Raana get along. Rana counts as giving unskilled assistance, which adds two boosts to the roll since she's a very helpful Togruta.

21:42, Today: Raana De'Fenn rolled 2 successes, 1 advantage using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1P 3A 2B 2D with rolls of 8(P), 6(A), 3(A), 7(A), 6(B), 1(B), 7(D), 8(D).  Navigating with K1.

The additional successes can be used to pinpoint a spot where you want to revert from hyperspace. Close to the planet, near a moon for hiding, etc. So you can choose anyone of those.

Advantages can be used to reduce the travel time. I usually do about -15% travel time per advantage, or they could be used to help find convenient stop-overs for supplies, fuel, etc.

Any of those or something similar in scope should be fine.

I will work on handing out XP for Ep 2, Chapter 1 as well.

We can continue the conversations for the next chapter with whatever everyone wants to discuss during the 46 hour travel time. K1 will have downloaded the latest news, and information on Uviuy Exen from the HoloNet relay before the meeting. I will post, at the beginning of the new chapter, that K1 has this info.

I will also start a new thread, the Databank. I can add information there that you guys pull up and have on the ship's computer, datapads, or general knowledge that you have accessed for reference. I will only post information you have asked about in this section. There may be more info that you have in these systems, but I will add those to the thread as it is accessed.

Lastly, I have posted in the absentee thread that I will be going on vacation this weekend and all of next week. I will check my phone periodically, when I can, and, possibly, longer responses later in the evenings.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

Okay, I've posted the Chapter 2 of Episode 2 (Fall of the Order) and added information to the Databank thread.

We can continue the discussions before Raana leaves, although briefly such as any introductions or other thoughts, comments etc. You can post it to the Ep 2, Ch 1 thread. Anything after that, please post to the Ep 2, Chapter 2 thread.

Feel free to post. I'm not leaving until late Saturday morning and I'm off work until then so I can respond fairly well until then. I will make every effort to keep in contact during my vacation to keep things moving. So please don't stop posting or wait until I return.

Happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating that tomorrow! For everyone else, happy Thursday. ;)

As always, please let me know if you have any questions, thoughts, concerns, etc.

Off topic

I am looking deeper into Genesys, and I really like the idea and may think about running something. There are tons of settings that I would love to play around with, its so hard to choose just one. Most of them would require a bit of work to get going..

I am thinking about Alagaesia (the world of Eragon from the book series), Firefly, Star Trek DS9, Sliders (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112167/), Stargate, world from the Sword of Truth Series (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword_of_Truth), Fallout, D&D Forgotten Realms conversion, or James Bond 007 type game.

I am leaning toward Alagaesia, just because I really liked how they did magic in that series, and the whole political structure I found interesting. But I also really liked the Firefly series as well, and there is a huge fan following for that one. Fallout and Stargate actually have some setting information from fans on the FFG forums so those would be easier to get going. Just curious if any of you have played in Genesys or thought about it.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

I've been listening to the Genesys played in the Campaign podcast. They're playing airship pirates. It plays pretty much the same. Firefly would be an easy translation, as most classes would mirror EotE classes. I'd be interested in playing Firefly.

Okay finished XP and conflict. Go ahead and roll 1d10 for your morality, and also roll for Destiny Pool (roll 1 Force die).

I have someone that's going to play K1, but someone needs to have a talk with the droid about going beyond her programming for specific tasks and contribute in new ways in character.  This will open up K1 to expand her skills in new areas. (Allowing the player to run her a little differently.  Anyone want to volunteer that,  preferably one of you that has been with the droid a while?)

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

Hey everyone. How's it going? Did you have a good holiday? I am sorry things have slowed to a crawl. Tarrin has been missing and haven't heard back and Raana has moved on. Unfortunately, this happens frequently in PBP games, but usually not two main characters. I have several people that applied before that I have reached out to and I am waiting to hear back.

With Raana being the de facto leader, I don't like to NPC the leader. When I know the plot, it makes it a little more challenging. I have done it before and basically roll to see if they like the ideas of the others, and go with the dice. But that should be a very short term solution. If anyone is interested in playing Raana for the short term, they would get extra XP for their character for playing that role in the interim. If not, I will NPC her or bring in another player to take over.

I usually give out bonuses for holidays, so I owe all active players 2 rolls for the bonus system, for Christmas and New Years. There is a table on Post#2 of the XP & Awards section  link to a message in this game.

How's everyone doing? Weather has been either freezing or warm and flooding here. Not much fun as far as the weather.

Okay, so I think we are having some confusion as to who is going to explain what's going on, perhaps. So, unless Raana's player is ready to tell everyone what's up, I'll have K1T1 show the recordings she took of what happened when they issued Order 66, and catch up Brin after watching what transpired. We'll call that plan B. So Raana let me know if you can post or are getting a post ready, or need further clarification. If not I'll post (tomorrow) Monday afternoon with Raana giving K1 the order to play back the events when you went into the hangar at the Chandrilla Orbiting Station, and go from there.

If people have questions or want to discuss how to approach that, there are many options. I can give suggestions, if you are stuck in your ideas. Sadly some strains of atypical pneumonia are resistant to macrolide antibiotics due to overuse. Fluoroquinolones and Tetracyclines can treat an atypical pneumonia effectively (assuming your case is bacterial). Have they done a sputum sample to see what kind you have?

No, I never actually got seen.  That was just his assessment over dinner.  I know without a decent CXR there's no way to even tell if it was atypical or not.  I think he's wanting to give me an inhaler to take care of the lung constrictive elements that are causing the wheezing I've got at the moment when I breathe out.  I'm just going to give it a couple days to see if it starts calming down at all before I talk to him about it again.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

May the 4th be with you!

I apologize for not moving things along, we having overlapping softball seasons, but that is coming to an end. We have a high school tournament next week Wednesday through Friday and then we are done with that. Then we have just 2 teams until the end of this month, and then down to one travel ball team after that. The overlap has been keeping me busy most nights, and no free time at work (not to mention rpol is blocked so I have to type replies in gmail, save it as a draft, open on the phone and then copy it to rpol which makes it a pain).

Now, back to the game. We need Brin to make the Streetwise rolls for the items. The clone rifles are illegal and will require a separate roll for finding a Black Market contact. By RAW, you get 1/4 of the listed price for selling to black market on success. 2 success moves it up to 1/2, and 3 or higher successes nets a max of 3/4. The other items can me negotiated separately or as an add-on deal for the illegal clone weapons. I will say the DC-15A will be +2 more than a blaster rifle 5 rarity, due to restricted status so 7 will be the new difficulty (unless you have an official document with a different rarity). That would be a hard check..  3D, plus the boost for Brin having contacts on this world.

AFter finding a contact, you can meet with them. I would suggest Tarrin has the best negotiation and he can take the baseline from Brin's roll and use that as the base for negotiating the final deal.

  Any questions?

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

Hi. Great to hear from you! I'm back and joined a Star Wars game and wanted to upgrade their character sheet, and was designing one in here. Had to create a character so I can could mess with the sheets and not mess up the original. That's probably why it flagged it as active.

But, I am considering running a game, anyway. Maybe a bit slower pace than the last one. I would love to resurrect this game, if we can get a couple of core players back. If not, I may do a whole new story line.

I use oggdude's for character generation but I like to have one online that I can view on my phone. Unless Oggdude has a phone app... probably not.

I am going to open up 'looking for players' soon.  So a couple questions..

1. How many players are you comfortable with?
2. Do you know anyone that is a solid roke player? I would prefer referrals from others. Though I will vet anyone else if we open the game up to more players.

We can start the game with just three. I'm not sure if we did XP, so I will give everyone returning 15 xp to upgrade their character.

I would like to keep the original story going, but we can start something new if we have a consensus. I have quite a bit of stuff still for this campaign. But if you want to change character's, I don't have a problem with that. We could write off Brin after he helps broker a deal for trades for the group. I guess Tarrin is the only one left, and we can have him go his own way for a bit, unless his player shows up.

I guess the additional question is, who wants a new game, or a new character or both ?

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

Alright, then.. So let's bring it to a vote:

  1) Stay with the current game, and everyone who wants to can switch characters

  2) Start a new game completely

  3) Start a story in the existing game (i.e. another group of Jedi and people helping the Jedi, in another part of the galaxy). The current core group can be NPC's and may show up later..

  4) Abstain - You are good with any of the above.

For all of these choices you can keep your XP for current characters or apply them to new ones.

It sounds like we have a consensus with # 1. Everyone can use their current character, roll up a new character, or modify their existing character within certain limitations since they do have a history. So basically you keep your existing XP + 15 added, no matter what your choice. We will continue with the Fall of the Republic campaign. I will open up the game for 1 additional person if they fit with the group, possibly a second. Max of 6.

I agree with seraphmoon. Take care of your health first and foremost.  Do what you can,  and we will have a spot for you whenever you're ready. Things are always going to happen in real life.  So as long as you try to communicate,  I am happy with that.

My usual take on absentees is we will give you some time and we will npc your character if needed to move the story along. But in this case you don't have a character in the party yet, so that's not a problem.

I updated a few things in the notices at the top. Character creation, I have a new character sheet you can use. I think it looks much better than the old one. You can find any image link on the internet and copy that link and put your character image there (just right click and select 'copy image link'. Then you just paste in between the quotes of the img src line. There are plenty of free image hosting sites so you can make your own, or modify an image. I did that with my Arkanian Offshoot, changed minor things, like eye color, added some wrinkles so the character didn't look like a teenager, etc. I use GIMP, best free picture editor out there.

Alright, just checking in. How close are you to finishing up your characters? I'd like to finish out the scene soon dealing with the sale of goods in exchange for refueling the ship, and whatever else you think the group needs to get done.

But, I feel like with Kyle out, Brin and Ra'anna changing characters, we might just end this scene and have the others meet up in another part of the galaxy. Den, you would have to change characters and the group of Ra'aana's will go on to their original plan, which was this:

From Master Oppo Rancisis (The snake-like Jedi Master that helped them escape the station during Order 66)..

"I have a set of coordinates I was investigating before the war started, a hidden place. Go there and I will find you. It is in the Outer Rim. You will need to plot a course to -3295,4606 mark 9.5 from the planet Karun IV."

Nobody will know where they went, so they would be gone from the story, maybe to return as a NPC party some day..

Thoughts?

Great to hear! Your spec is approved D3CIB-L.

  We have so far:

[*]   Gank soldier/merc type,
[*]   Togruta bounty hunter.
[*]   Rodian Jedi Ataru Striker.
[*]   Jedi Warrior type (Seraphmoon)
[*]   Jedi Zeltron  (Wynternight)
[*]   Jedi Seeker? (Den's new character)

Did I miss anyone?  If you haven't already, give me a character name so I can create a new character and give you the character sheet.

You can you outside sources like SWCharacterSheets site and just put the link in the sheet. The character sheet I use has a dice roller link. You have to change the values, but for the things you use often, it works great. It puts your base dice pool and a note about what it is. you still have to add any extra bonuses and difficulty/opposing dice, but the form is filled out except for that.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

All of you are in a bar tossing dwarves and drinks when in walks this tall glass of water. Said glass was in the hands of a Water Genasi who ignores you to watch the elf belting out songs in front of the fireplace. Well, belting isn't quite the word you'd use since she went from belting to beating them like a misbehaving child about three songs ago.

The songs are taking a beating, your ears are taking a belting, the liquor is watered down so much you ceased getting past buzzed about an hour ago and, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, in walked a dame with gams that wouldn't quit and went on forever. She was so tall you couldn't see anything but gams, the hole she left in the bar as she went through one door and out the other, leaving behind her Heraldic symbol, before vanishing into the night being chased by some of the roughest, ugliest, stinkiest looking dwarves you've ever seen. Their eyes promised murder if anyone tried tossing them which was just invitation enough to Percival Mortimer Winterbottom the Third, your Barbarian, to try since he had run out of willing dwarves three rounds of drinks and tosses ago.

His eyes lit up, he got a big smile on his face, and soon a dwarf was flying through the air cursing Percival in an impressive array of languages.

And that's how the fight (and campaign) started...

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

I totally forgot about starting money, everyone gets 9,500 credits in addition to your starting money to spend, that will allow Jedi to purchase several options for lightsabers or a standard with maybe some other weapons. Especially if they become mercenaries or something else and need standard weapons.. Other melee or ranged so they don't break out the lightsaber when they are trying to avoid being seen as Jedi.

Non-Jedi can get some cool items, upgraded mods, etc.

Also you need to pick a ship for 60,000 credits or less.

That's why the 9,500 + your normal starting money 500. So you can purchase a lightsaber. you can choose obligation or Morality for extra XP or credits. They aren't free, that would imbalance non-Force characters.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

Okay, I just wanted to make sure. Basic lightsabers are 9300 credits, and most attachments for them are 1000 credits or more. 9300 plus a light blaster is 9600, leaving 400 credits plus an extra 1k or 2.5k depending on which morality bonus people choose.

The only reason I asked was because it sounded like you meant for us to use the extra credits to buy other options. I'm happy with the 9500 for the lightsaber, but don't be surprised if I just go with a light blaster as my incognito weapon. :-p

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

That is going to be a little tricky,  it could depend on how the first scene shakes out. It isn't really an issue yet. The first scene doesn't involve the ship other than in the background your groups arrive on a ship. So one of the Jedi could have arrived on one. That is one possibility,  but there are other options. We can finalize that after the starting scene. We should be starting that fairly soon.

Also, sorry for all the posts, but just trying to clear up as much as possible before I am away tonight, and most of tomorrow.

If you have an external character link, please put that either in Character Details or the top of the character sheet. You can edit the character sheet and erase what is there if you don't plan on using it. There is a copy of it in the 'character creation' sticky thread  link to a message in this game  if you change your mind.  Let me know when yours is updated and ready for me to review/approve.

Also, when you have time work on your backgrounds. I award from 5-10 XP (available to spend after the current session) based on how well it is, include major people in your lives both good and bad, especially ones implicated in your Obligation. Also how you survived Order 66 or adjusted to the Empire's changes for non-Jedi.

I also have a suggestion for you getting to the planet, if you haven't already come up with an idea. You escaped order 66 and stowed away on a large freighter, and it was headed toward the planet (where the Zeltron girl is) to pick up a shipment of synthetic bacta.. so you would be there whenever you are ready to start.

For the rest of the players, I hope you are all doing well also.  I am about to join all the mercenary group together at least and head to the final scene. Just waiting on Taima to post, though I may just start a new thread for the 2nd scene and leave the other one open to add final RP.

Two of the Jedi, Theedan and Jayce will also make their way to the planet, soon afterward.

Re: The Cantina - Part Deux (OOC)

I'm still working on PM's behind the scenes. We should get moving here soon.

On another note. I am working on a story, and I'm making it into something like a FanFiction, but using SW FFG stats to do a solo campaign, but using lots of random tables, using Obligation triggers, roll results, and an initial story. This story is in the same Fall of the Republic timeline.  It's under the Game Wiki. The characters in the story may end up being NPC's that run across this group, briefly at least. I include the rolls and rules in orange between the story, so you can kind of see how I use threats, Triumphs and Despairs.. well no despairs yet, but those are fun. Anyway, if you are interested in reading it, you can access it from the Game Wiki. I've sometimes done this as an audiobook kinda of format for Fall of the Republic before, but it is a heck of a lot of work to mix the audio and run soundtracks, etc. I did like doing the voices, though. Trying to get the clone voices just right and then varying them for different characters was really a challenge. Jayce has heard several of those audiobook recordings. Matching voices to characters really adds an extra dimension to RP, IMHO. Anyway, sorry for the rambling.. its what happens when I'm waiting to post. :)
